We won't wait any longer! Try all three Matsu wines from Spain now in a tasting package and save compared to the individual price.

Matsu El Picaro (0.75 l, 14.5% vol.), item no. 1806457, dry

The youngest of the bunch is El Picaro, which means "the rogue". The 100% vegan Tempranillo, also known here as Tinto de Toro, is grown biodynamically. The Matsu El Picaro shines in the glass with an intense, violet color. The bouquet consists of penetrating aromas of black fruits such as blackberry and blueberry. Mineral notes are wonderfully surrounded by a light sweetness. Ripe grapes dominate the palate, making this Spanish red wine full-bodied and powerful.

Enjoy this Matsu wine on its own or in combination with medium-weight dishes.

Matsu El Recio (0.75 l. 14.5% vol.), art. no. 1806458, dry

The second of the family is El Recio and means "the strong one". This vegan wine with an intense aroma of chocolate, vanilla and dark fruit comes from 90 to 100-year-old vines. It has a special creaminess, which is characterized by mineral and fruity aromas. The characteristic power of Toro red wines is combined with an outstanding softness on the palate.

Enjoy the vegan Matsu El Recio with grilled dishes or hearty stews.

Matsu El Viejo (0.75 l, 15.0% vol.), item no. 1806459, dry

The wine family of El Viejo becomes a trio and means "the old one". The wine has a cherry red color with violet reflections at the edges. The bouquet consists of black fruits, smoky and spicy notes, as well as roasted aromas resulting from barrel ageing. On the palate, the red wine is fleshy, ripe and round. Tannins are clearly perceptible but finely polished, giving the Spanish red wine a slight sweetness. The finish once again underlines the harmony between the fruit and the wood aromas. This Spanish wine from the Toro region is vegan.

Matsu El Viejo is an excellent accompaniment to strong sauces or mature and intense cheeses.

Matsu El Viejo
The Toro region in northwestern Spain is renowned for intense and powerful wines. The Matsu El Viejo is additionally equipped with elegance and finesse, reflecting the flawless artistry of winemaking with the Tempranillo grape, which is known as Tinta de Toro in this region. The Matsu El Viejo, which means ‘the old man’, is a selection of grapes from vineyards that are more than 100 years old. The vines in these low-yield vineyards are biodynamically cultivated. After the fermentation and the subsequent malolactic fermentation, the wine matured for 16 months in French oak casks. The wine was deliberately not filtered, thus preserving its full aroma structure. The Matsu El Viejo is a deep cherry-red in the glass with purple glints on the rim. It has a wonderfully intense bouquet of black fruit. Due to the ageing in casks, the Matsu El Viejo shows roast aromas and notes of smoke and spices that are wonderfully structured and integrated. On the palate, the wine is fleshy, ripe and round. The noticeable but fine tannins give the El Viejo a light sweetness. The finish is once again characterised by the harmony between fruit and wood aromas. The Matsu El Viejo is a typical accompaniment to meals, and stands up well to  hearty sauces and intensely flavoured grilled dishes. We recommend trying this amazing wine with blue cheeses.
