The bouquet alone is fascinating: Notes of green bell pepper, grass and pine needles at the beginning, harmonizing over time with the scent of gooseberries and exotic fruits such as passion fruit and grapefruit. Nuances of pepper and cassis round off the whole.On the palate, the Bassermann-Jordan Sauvignon Blanc is dry, fresh and fruity. The Palatinate white wine is also characterized by a fine acidity, a slender body and great complexity. In the finish, aromas of citrus fruits and nuances of ice candy enrich the taste pleasure.The grapes come from different, cooler sites in the Mittelhardt, the northern part of the Palatinate wine-growing region. They are predominantly east-facing. Bassermann-Jordan Ungeheuer Riesling GG trocken 2022

Der Forster Ungeheuer Riesling 2022 ist ein Deutscher Spitzenwein vom Weingut Geheimer Rat Dr. von Bassermann-Jordan. Die Lage Forster Ungeheuer liegt westlich vom Weinort Forst am Hang des Haardtgebirges und verdankt ihren Namen dem früheren Deidesheimer Stadtschreiber Johann Adam Ungeheuer, welcher 1699 verstarb. Schon der ehemalige Reichskanzler Otto von Bismarck soll diesen Wein bewundert haben und sagte über einen Rebsaft aus dieser Lage: "Dies Ungeheuer schmeckt mir ungeheuerlich!" Wie für Bassermann-Jordan üblich, wird auch bei diesem großen Gewächs nichts unversucht gelassen, dem herausragenden Terroir der Lage gerecht zu werden. So werden die Trauben für das 2022er Forster UNGEHEUER GG in mehreren Durchgängen per Hand selektiv gelesen. 60% des Rieslings wurden im Edelstahltank ausgebaut, der Rest im traditionellen Stückfass. Die einzelnen Grundweine verblieben nach der Gärung bis zur Füllung im Juli auf der Vollhefe, was die Intensität, Feinheit und den Fruchtdruck des Weines ungemein erhöht. In der Nase Zitrusfrüchte, Rauch, Kardamon, mineralische Eindrücke und Pfirsich. Am Gaumen imposant strukturiert, etwas salzige Mineralität auf der Zunge, viel Kraft, aber auch Cremigkeit. Der Nachhall ist lang anhaltend und ausgesprochen intensiv. Ein Deutscher Spitzenriesling, aus einer Top-Lage, der noch etwa 4-5 Jahre lang im Keller verbleiben sollte, um die erste Genußreife zu erlangen. Er wird dann dem Weinkenner noch lange Freude bereiten. Der Forster Ungeheuer von Bassermann-Jordan ist ein wunderbarer Solo-Wein; er passt allerdings auch hervorragend zu Meeresfrüchten, thailändischer Küche, Sushi, Schalentieren, gegrilltem Gemüse oder auch zu würzigen Pasta-Gerichten.
