The Goldtröpfchen Riesling GG dry from the renowned Nik Weis - St. Urbans-Hof winery is a prime example of the exceptional quality and minerality that a Riesling from the Moselle can offer.

The Goldtröpfchen vineyard in Piesport on the Moselle, around 40 kilometers north-east of Trier, is one of the best in Germany. The oldest plots date back to the late 19th century. Unmistakable terroir, paired with the winemaking skills of Nik Weis: the result is a world-class Riesling. 94 points in Robert Parker's Wine Advocate for the Nik Weis Sankt Urbans-Hof Goldtröpfchen Riesling GG from the 2019 vintage speak for themselves. And even in the 2022 vintage, the Grosses Gewächs is simply outstanding.

The Rhineland-Palatinate white wine has an intense aroma of tropical fruits (pineapple, passion fruit, mango), blackcurrants and a wonderful spiciness (mint). On the palate, the Nik Weis Sankt Urbans-Hof Goldtröpfchen Riesling GG 2022 is full-bodied and, thanks to its special location, captivatingly aromatic. Again a beguiling intensity of tropical fruit aromas, in addition to a wonderful interplay with earthy tones and a great spiciness (from weathered slate soil). With plenty of structure and infinite depth.

The Riesling, matured in stainless steel tanks, spontaneously fermented and single-varietal, comes from 40 to 100-year-old vines. Enjoy this Nik Weis "Große Gewächs" on special occasions at a drinking temperature of 8 degrees. The Goldtröpfchen Riesling is perfect with duck breast à l'orange or a yellow coconut curry with cashew nuts.

Nik Weis - St. Urbans-Hof

Der Sankt Urbans-Hof im Mosel-Saar-Gebiet wurde 1947 von Nicolaus Weis gegründet. Sein Enkel Nik Weis trat 1997 in das elterliche Weingut ein und führt seit 2002 gemeinsam mit seiner Frau Daniela Weis, die selbst Winzertochter und diplomierte Kauffrau ist, das Weingut.

Die Rebfläche vom Weingut Sankt Urbans-Hof erstreckt sich über drei Mosel- und drei Saarlagen. Es gibt drei Grand-Cru-Lagen (Leiwener Laurentiuslay, Ockfener Bockstein, Piesporter Goldtröpfchen) und drei Ortslagen (Wiltinger, Saarfeilser, Mehringer), auf denen Nik Weis und sein Team ausdrucksstarke Weine erzeugen.

Das Weingut Sankt Urbans-Hof gehört mit einer Rebfläche von 35 Hektar zu den größten und wichtigsten des Mosel-Saar-Anbaugebietes. Der klare und qualitätsbewusste Stil wurde bereits mehrfach prämiert. Im März 2010 erhielt Nik Weis bei den "Feinschmecker" Wine Awards die Auszeichnung für die Wein-Kollektion des Jahres für das Weingut Sankt Urbans-Hof. Das Weingut exportiert auch in internationale Märkte und ist bekannt für Spitzen-Rieslinge.

Orma Toscana Rosso IGT 2019

Orma, was übersetzt "Fussabdruck" heißt, wird auf dem Weingut Sette Ponti hergestellt, auf nur 5,5 ha. Ein Wein, der auf dem Weg zum "Super-Tuscan" ist, liegt sein Rebgarten nämlich in unmittelbarer Nähe der Nachbarn Ornellaia und Sassicaia. Auch die Qualität zielt in diese Richtung, nur, dass dieser Wein - zumindest noch im Moment - einen Bruchteil seiner Konkurrenten aus der Toscana kostet.Die Assemblage von Orma besteht aus Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon und Cabernet Franc, entspricht also dem klassischen Bild eines Bordeaux-Blends. 12 Monate reift der Orma in neuem französischen Eichenholz und wird dann noch einige weitere Monate auf der Flasche gelagert.Die Farbe ist von tiefem Rubinrot. In der Nase viel dunkle Frucht, Röstaromen, Kirsche, Pflaumen, Kräuter, Tabak und Schokolade. Zwar besitzt der Orma eine gute Struktur, das Tannin ist aber nicht erschlagend, sondern fein und geschliffen und sehr schön integriert. Der Nachklang ist atemberaubend lang. Der Orma 2019 ist dicht und fleischig, aber dennoch immer frisch und von einer mediterranen Leichtigkeit umspielt. Quasi ein Bordeaux mit dem Focus auf mehr Frucht und weniger Verkopftheit.Der Orma wird noch ein langes Leben vor sich haben, kann aber bereits gegenwärtig nach 2 Stunden Dekantierengenossen werden.
