The Moulin Rose de Malescasse 2022 is the second wine of the renowned Château Malescasse and comes from the Haut-Médoc appellation. The vineyards are located between Margaux and Saint-Julien on the gravelly soils typical of the Médoc, which provide the vines with excellent drainage and contribute to the production of elegant, fruit-forward Bordeaux wines. The wonderful 2022 vintage benefited from a sunny and warm climate, which ensured optimally ripened grapes and particularly intense aromas.

In the glass, Le Moulin Rose de Malescasse 2022 displays a deep ruby red color. Its bouquet is characterized by juicy aromas of black currants, blackberries, and ripe cherries, complemented by subtle notes of plums, spices, and a delicate hint of vanilla and toasted wood. On the palate, the wine is approachable, harmonious, and fruit-forward. The tannins are soft and well-integrated, creating a pleasant, silky texture. Its balanced structure combines the freshness of dark berries with subtle spice and an elegant, medium-length finish. Compared to the estate’s Grand Vin, the Moulin Rose is slightly more approachable earlier and particularly charming, without sacrificing the typical finesse and character of the Haut-Médoc. We estimate its aging potential to extend until approximately 2032.

Thanks to its balanced character, this wine is a versatile food pairing, though it also shines on its own. It pairs superbly with grilled or pan-seared beef, lamb, duck breast, and hearty poultry dishes. It also pairs well with pasta featuring rich meat sauces, mushroom dishes, and aged cheeses. Le Moulin Rose de Malescasse 2022 proves to be an excellent choice alongside a classic cheese and charcuterie platter or during a cozy get-together with friends. Served at a temperature of about 16 to 18 °C, it beautifully reveals its fruity aromas and elegant structure, offering an authentic, delightful expression of the Haut-Médoc at an almost unbeatable price.

The Château Malescasse 2022 comes from Lamarque, which is located in the renowned Haut-Médoc appellation, between Margaux and Saint-Julien. This historic estate, classified as a Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel, benefits from the region’s characteristic gravelly soils, which provide ideal conditions for growing high-quality Bordeaux grape varieties. The 2022 vintage is composed of 49% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45.5% Merlot, and 5.5% Petit Verdot, reflecting both the power of the exceptional 2022 vintage and the elegance of its terroir.The grapes are carefully selected and vinified by plot to optimally highlight the distinctive characteristics of each vineyard. The wine is then aged for 12 months, one-third of which is spent in new barriques, imparting additional complexity, structure, and aging potential. The result is a characterful Haut-Médoc with great aging potential that offers much enjoyment even in its youth but can continue to develop until around 2040.In the glass, the wine displays a deep ruby red color with violet highlights. The bouquet is ripe, intense, and multi-layered, dominated by dark fruits such as blackberries, black currants, plums, and blueberries. These are complemented by subtle notes of licorice, tobacco, and spices, along with a hint of vanilla and toasted aromas derived from aging in oak barrels; here, the wood provides a lovely, supportive backdrop without ever taking center stage. 2020 wurde Château Malescasse in den Rang eines Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel gehoben, die höchste Stufe, die es innerhalb dieser Klassifikation zu erreichen gilt."Schuld" daran dürfte auch der 2014 Malescasse sein, der als erster Jahrgang unter Mitwirkung des Star-Önologen Stéphane Derononcourt entstand. 54% Merlot, 36% Cabernet Sauvignon und 10% Petit Verdot machen eine im besten Sinne runde Assemblage aus, wobei die malolaktische Gärung im Holzfass stattfand, bei 35% Neufassanteil und der Wein schließlich für volle 14 Monate in den Fässern nachreifen durfte.Eine rubinrote Farbe begrüßt uns, in der ausdrucksstarken Nase begegnen uns Schwarze Johannisbeere, Brombeere und Himbeere, alle mit einer schönen, reifen Note. Aromen von Röstmokka verleihen dem Wein eine große Eleganz und Komplexität. Am Gaumen sehr rund und stoffig, mit einem perfekten Spiel von Säure und Alkohol. Die Tannine sind seidig und führen zum ausgesprochen langanhaltenden und intensiven Ausklang hin.Wir empfehlen, den Wein mindestens eine halbe Stunde lang zu dekantieren.

Château Poujeaux 2020 is an outstanding wine from the Moulis-en-Médoc appellation, one of the smaller but highly regarded regions on the left bank of Bordeaux. The estate, whose origins date back to the Middle Ages, is known for its consistent quality work and its ability to produce wines with strong character and longevity year after year. The 2020 vintage benefited from a balanced climate with warm days, cool nights and an ideal ripening period, resulting in excellent concentration and elegance in the grapes.The cuvée of the 2020 vintage consists predominantly of Cabernet Sauvignon (54%), supplemented by Merlot (40%) and Petit Verdot (6%). This classic Bordeaux composition reflects the terroir character of the gravelly soils in Moulis particularly well and ensures complexity and depth.In the glass, Château Poujeaux 2020 is an intense, deep ruby red. Château Charmail, located in the north of the Médoc, is the neighbor of Sociando-Mallet and has an exceptionally good terroir close to the Gironde. Formerly dormant, this estate woke up a few decades ago and produces fresh and fruity wines that have propelled Château Charmail into the top league of the Left Bank. It is important to bear in mind that the prices for this grape juice are still more than moderate, making Charmail one of the absolute price-performance winners in the whole of Bordeaux. The 2019 vintage is also exceptionally successful and is considered part of the century trilogy (2018-2020).A wonderfully deep ruby red glows in the glass. On the nose, the typically delicate fruit of Château Charmail, with cassis, blackberries, redcurrants and a hint of elderberry. On the palate, the red and blueberry character intensifies, framed by tobacco, licorice, leather and a little graphite, as well as mint and cedar. Everything is very fresh and harmonious, with good structure and race and some residual sweetness, which balances wonderfully with the intense fruit. Although the tannins are present, they are not over-represented, but appear polished and polished. The finish is extremely long.Château Charmail 2019 is a winner in its price category and scores even higher.
