2020 wurde Château Malescasse in den Rang eines Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel gehoben, die höchste Stufe, die es innerhalb dieser Klassifikation zu erreichen gilt.

"Schuld" daran dürfte auch der 2014 Malescasse sein, der als erster Jahrgang unter Mitwirkung des Star-Önologen Stéphane Derononcourt entstand. 54% Merlot, 36% Cabernet Sauvignon und 10% Petit Verdot machen eine im besten Sinne runde Assemblage aus, wobei die malolaktische Gärung im Holzfass stattfand, bei 35% Neufassanteil und der Wein schließlich für volle 14 Monate in den Fässern nachreifen durfte.
Eine rubinrote Farbe begrüßt uns, in der ausdrucksstarken Nase begegnen uns Schwarze Johannisbeere, Brombeere und Himbeere, alle mit einer schönen, reifen Note. Aromen von Röstmokka verleihen dem Wein eine große Eleganz und Komplexität. Am Gaumen sehr rund und stoffig, mit einem perfekten Spiel von Säure und Alkohol. Die Tannine sind seidig und führen zum ausgesprochen langanhaltenden und intensiven Ausklang hin.

Wir empfehlen, den Wein mindestens eine halbe Stunde lang zu dekantieren.
