This wine estate from the Saint-Julien appellation has been owned by the Meffre family for three generations. They skillfully purchased additional vineyards and have been able to continuously improve the quality since taking over the estate in 1961. Despite everything, this Cru Bourgeois has always remained moderately priced, so that Château du Glana must be regarded as one of the best values in the appellation.

Château du Glana is an incredible flatterer. Harmony, almost Margaux-like finesse and balance are the annual headline of these wines.

The Bordeaux greets us with a beautiful ruby red color. The nose is full and complex with aromas of herbs and freshly pressed berries. Round and silky on the palate, with flowers, citrus and berries at the end. The acidity balances this perfectly and the tannins lead into the long finish.

This dry red wine is an excellent accompaniment to roasted or grilled meat.

Dieses Château aus der berühmten Appellation Saint Julien im Médoc ist bis heute im Familienbesitz und produziert Jahr für Jahr einen der besten Weine der Region.2020 war ein sehr guter Jahrgang in einer Reihe von Ausnahmejahrgängen (2015, 2016, 2018, 2019) und knüpft nahtlos an die Erfolge dieser Weine an.65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot und 5% Cabernet Franc stellen die Assemblage dieses Cru Bourgeois.Noch etwas verschlossen, ist hier viel Frucht und Beerigkeit vorhanden; dazu Tabak, Rauch, Grafit, Brombeeren, Cassis und Veilchen. Sehr klassischer Saint Julien-Gaumen, der sich zwischen Pauillac Power und Struktur und Eleganz einpendelt. Deutliche, saftige Tannine, die aber noch schmelziger werden. Weine vom Château Gloria haben ein gutes Alterungspotential und brauchen etwas Geduld. Der Abgang ist lang und aromatisch.Trinkreif ab voraussichtlich 2027, dann aber mit einer "Mindestlaufzeit" von einem Vierteljahrhundert.Winespectator: 93-96/100 Punkte; James Suckling: 94/100 Punkte; René Gabriel: 17/20 Punkte (mit Aussicht auf mehr).

Der Château Laroque ist ein Grand Cru Classé aus der berühmten Appellation Saint-Émilion am rechten Ufer von Bordeaux. In früheren Jahren manchmal underrated, wird der Laroque in Parker´s Wine Advocat als „terrific effort“ bezeichnet, also als tolle oder bemerkenswerte Anstrengung.Die Assemblage dieses auch am rechten Ufer der Gironde hervorragenden Jahrgangs besteht zu 99% aus Merlot mit 1% Anteil von Cabernet Franc. Für 12 Monate lagerte dieser Rebsaft in französischen Eichenfässern, 50% davon Neuholz.Der Château Laroque ist von einem tiefdunklen Rubin mit violetten Reflexen. In der Nase ein sehr einladendes Bukett von Edelholz, Schwarzkirsche, Mokka, Gewürze, etwas Leder, Lakritz und Jod. Am Gaumen viel Saft, sehr cremig und üppig, mit einer feinen Harmonie und Balance. Im langen Nachhall spiegeln sich die vielschichtigen Aromen wider.Wir empfehlen, den Château Laroque mindestens eine Stunde vor dem Genuss zu dekantieren. Der Wein hat ein Lagerpotential von mehreren Jahrzehnten.

Chante Alouette 2018 is a typical Bordeaux from the right bank of the Saint-Émilion appellation. The vineyards are located between such famous neighbors as Château Pavie and La Gaffeliére; the sand and clay soils, in addition to careful vinification, are responsible for producing particularly elegant and rich wines with a lot of charm.Château Chante Aloutte was taken over in 1995 by the Guy d'Arfeuille family, who combine the best of tradition and modernity while respecting and appreciating nature. The blend consists of 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc. It is matured in barriques with 30% new wood for one year.The 2018 Chante Alouette has a deep garnet-purple color. Blueberries, sweet cherries, licorice, baked plums, tobacco and violets on the nose. The palate is wonderfully elegant, opening up a world of dark fruits with chocolate. Lots of velvet and well-integrated tannins with an intense finish complete a very rounded picture of the exceptional 2018 vintage.A wonderful solo wine, drinkable now until around 2038, which also cuts an excellent figure with game, braised meat, grilled lamb or hard cheese.

The Kanonkop Cabernet Sauvignon is a single-varietal top red wine from Stellenbosch in South Africa, vinified by star winemaker Abrie Beeslaar. The vines, which are over 30 years old, grow on weathered granite and Hutton soils and produce exceptionally concentrated grapes with a low yield.After traditional mash fermentation in open concrete fermenters and manual punching down of the mash, the red wine matured for 24 months in French oak (50% new). The result is a Cabernet Sauvignon of great depth, structure and elegance.It shines a deep garnet red in the glass. The nose reveals complex aromas of cassis, cigar box, cedar wood, laurel and fine peppers. Powerful and multi-layered on the palate with notes of black cherry, plum, walnut, vanilla and spices. Lanzerac Le General is a so-called Bordeaux Blend, which would be assigned to the left bank in Bordeaux, i.e. the Médoc region. This style has its origins in the classic blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Petit Verdot and Merlot.The grapes for this wine all come from the estate's best vineyards in the Jonkershoek Valley in Stellenbosch. the wine matured for 20 months in 1st and 2nd fill French oak barrels. This full-bodied blend announces vanilla and nutmeg spices before a flood of dark berries, cooked plums and blackcurrants hit the palate. Dark chocolate and a hint of smoke are supported by powerful, soft tannins and an endless finish. This vintage has already reached drinking maturity. Decanting recommended.Enjoy this wine with braised rack of lamb with fennel and orange or with a white chocolate mousse with cherries.
