Wine connoisseurs benefit from this, as the quality of this grape juice is "outstanding", but the price, compared to Opus One, is not yet.And the 2019 Quintessa has also once again become a wine trouvaille, which was remarkably rated 99/100 points by James Suckling and received the high score of 100/100 points from WineEnthusiast.91% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Cabernet Franc, 2% Merlot, 2% Carménère and 1% Petit Verdot make up the cuvée, which matured in 60% new French oak for 22 months.The nose shows an incredibly vibrant picture of the elements of flowers, forest, fruit and earth. Spices, walnut, black fruit, sweet cherry, cassis and wood complement each other to form a complex, extremely sensual whole, with silky tannins, good fat, great structure and an eternally lingering echo.This wine offers seemingly endless aromas to be discovered, but is not "cerebral" in the sense that it is incomprehensible. It is too seductive for that and it is all the more remarkable that it is already accessible and ready to drink now, but will probably remain so for another 30 years.An ideal gift for wine connoisseurs and those who simply appreciate outstanding grape juice at its finest.A mature achievement!

This is a fabulous showing in a very challenging yearThe Robert Mondavi Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon has a great depth, yet is remarkably accessible. 93% of the grapes for this blend come from the legendary vineyard To Kalon. The blend of predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon as well as small amounts of Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Merlot and Malbec has a deep dark color. On the nose the wine is wonderfully diverse. It offers intense aromas of dark fruit, sage, bay leaf and fine nuances of black pepper.On the palate, savory and with a clear, harmonious structure. The freshness, density, complexity and the persistent finish make the wine an extraordinary creation.The new wine was drained and gently pressed into 92% new French-oak barrels for malolactic fermentation, assuring seamless integration of fruit and oak. The final blend was assembled through repeated tasting trials over the 20 months of barrel aging.

Seña Eduardo Chadwick 2020

Seña is an icon of viticulture in South America. The Chilean red wine has fascinated international wine critics for many years. In Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, Luis Gutiérrez has never awarded the Seña less than 96 points since 2015. James Suckling even awarded 100 points in 2015 and 2018 for the noble red wine, which has been backed by Eduardo Chadwick and Robert Mondavi, two greats of the wine world, since 1995. The 2020 Seña vintage is also outstanding. The creation from the Aconcagua Valley was awarded 97 points by Gutiérrez and 98 by Suckling.The bouquet of the blend of 53% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Malbec, 15% Carmenere and 7% Petit Verdot is impressively complex. Notes of raspberries and cherries form the intensely fruity basis. They create a stimulating interplay with balsamic notes of cedar and tobacco as well as nuances of dill and rosemary, explains Francisco Baettig, the technical director of Seña.The wine "is subtle and multi-layered, not just fruit, but with more spice," Gutiérrez says of the 2020 vintage. Suckling's verdict: "Complex, with a spicy character, the nose shows tobacco, salty plums, olives, black cherries, cassis and a hint of white pepper, followed by a fine, spicy, balsamic accent."On the palate, the deep garnet-red Chilean blend is dry, dense and powerful, with masterfully integrated, polished tannins. The Seña 2020 has "very fine-grained tannins, plus freshness, acidity and tension. Very balanced in a rather warm vintage," says Baettig.Gutiérrez also writes of polished tannins and very well-integrated wood maturation after 22 months in barriques. According to the Spaniard, 78% new wood was used and 10% of the wine was aged in large Stockinger barrels, i.e. barrels from the world-renowned barrel maker from Austria.Seña's vineyards in the Aconcagua Valley, along the Aconcagua River, which flows from the Andes into the Pacific, offer the perfect terroir for perfect wines. Located on the eastern side of the coastal mountains, and thus shielded from the direct influence of the ocean, the growing area also benefits from a Mediterranean climate and the cooling effect of the world's oceans. Seña 2021 is an iconic red wine from Chile, more precisely from the Aconcagua Valley, around 100 kilometers north of Santiago. Most of the grapes for the FAY Cabernet Sauvignon come from the middle and lower plots of the Fay vineyard, where they develop the characteristic red fruit aromas particularly beautifully and intensively. Only a small portion of just under 10% comes from the rows of vines planted to the east, which give the blend a little more power and fullness. All the grapes are vinified separately by parcel, only now are they blended into the FAY blend and left to mature for 18 months in French oak barrels (80% new, 20% single-oak) to develop the unique balance of juicy fruit, power and elegance that characterizes the FAY Cabernet Sauvignon so unmistakably.The Stag's Leap FAY Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon has a deep ruby to plum red color. Tenuta Argentiera Ventaglio Rosso Toscana IGT 2015

Das Weingut Tenuta Argentiera gehört ohne Zweifel seit Jahren zu den Top-Erzeugern aus der Toskana. Der Ventaglio Rosso Toscana ist das Premiumprodukt des Weingutes. Mit dem Jahrgang 2015 hat Argentiera erstmals einen Lagenwein aus einer ganz besonderen Parzelle vinifiziert. Lediglich 2950 Flaschen in 750 ml Größe und nur 250 Magnumflaschen wurden abgefüllt. Die Basis für diesen 2015er Jahrgang ist die Rebsorte Cabernet Franc. Der Wein wurde mit 15% Cabernet Sauvignon verschnitten. Das Besondere an der Lage des Weinberges ist seine fächerförmige Anordnung der Rebstöcke. Dieses gibt dem Wein auch seinen Namen. (Fächer heißt im Italienischen Ventaglio) Diese Art der Pflanzung führt dazu, dass die Trauben des Weinberges in verschiedene Kategorien eingestellt sind.Der Ventaglio weist höchste Komplexität und Struktur auf. Seine außergewöhnliche Eleganz bringt die unterschiedlichen Komponenten wunderbar zusammen. Sowohl die Gärung als auch die Reifung fand in teilweise neuen französischen und österreichischen Eichenfässern statt. Das verleiht dem Wein einen robusten und langlebigen Körper.Die Farbe zeigt ein starkes Rubinrot und die Ränder schimmern in leichtem Violett. Die Nase ist geprägt von viel schwarzer Frucht. Die anfänglichen Aromen von Brombeere und Pflaume gleiten in ein Rauch- und Gewürzaroma über. Am Gaumen präsentiert sich der Ventaglio von Argentiera extrem kraftvoll und vielschichtig. Erdige Töne spielen mit den fein geschliffenen Tanninen. Der Abgang ist wunderbar fruchtig und von zarter Cremigkeit.

Tenuta Argentiera Ventaglio Rosso Toscana IGT 2016

Der Tenuta Argentiera Ventaglio ist eine Rotwein-Ikone aus der Toskana. Monica Larner würdigt diesen reinsortigen Cabernet Franc in Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate mit 97 Punkten. Und sie schreibt diesen bemerkenswerten Satz: „Wenn es einen Himmel gibt, in dem Weinreben leben, dann ist es vielleicht der Weinberg Ventaglio.“ Im Zentrum des Weinbergs unweit des Tyrrhenischen Meeres steht eine alte Eiche, von der aus die Rebzeilen strahlenförmig angeordnet sind. Das Ganze wirkt wie ein Fächer, italienisch: Ventaglio.Das Bouquet des Tenuta Argentiera Ventaglio 2016 ist herrlich fruchtintensiv und verführt gleichzeitig mit einer einnehmenden Würze. „Reichhaltige Noten von Brombeere und dunklen Johannisbeeren“ erkennt der Falstaff (der auch 97 Punkte vergibt). Auch Larner schreibt bei diesem Rotwein aus dem Anbaugebiet Bolgheri von „getrockneten Brombeeren“. Hinzu kommen eine schöne Würze (Rosmarin, Zedernholz) sowie Noten von Tabak, Kakao und eine steinige Mineralität. Am Gaumen ist der italienische Rotwein von der toskanischen Küste trocken, hocharomatisch und kraftvoll. Im Falstaff heißt es: „Der Gaumen ist griffig und kraftvoll und öffnet sich mit vielen Schichten dichtem Tannin, zusammen mit würzigen Noten, dunkler Beerenfrucht und etwas Lakritz.“ Das Finale beschreibt Larner als „vielschichtig, tief und reichhaltig.“Dieser Ausnahme-Rotwein stammt von einer Einzellage, die das Weingut selbst als „unser kleines Familienjuwel" bezeichnet. Akribisch werden hier die Trauben von Hand gelesen. Nur in außergewöhnlichen Jahrgängen wird der Tenuta Argentiera Ventaglio in streng limitierter Flaschenzahl produziert. 2016 war so ein herausragendes Jahr mit sehr guten klimatischen Bedingungen, sodass die Cabernet Franc-Trauben eine eindrucksvolle Aromenintensität ausbildeten.
