Lanzerac Chardonnay

The grapes for the Lanzerac Chardonnay come from the estate’s various vineyards, of which the oldest are more than 20 years old. The blending of the grapes from the different vineyards has a positive impact on the wines’ complexity. The yield is less than 5 tons per hectare (1 hectare = approx. 2.47 acres). In order to only pick healthy and fully ripe grapes, the harvest was carried out by hand. Subsequently, the grapes were again selected by hand in the cellar. After cutting, the grapes were cooled down to 59 °F and pressed.The wine was fermented in barrels, of which 70% were 300-litre oak casks and 30% were stainless steel tanks. After 9 months, the two batches were blended. The Lanzerac Chardonnay is full-bodied and distinctive, offering aromas of citrus, ginger, vanilla and clover on the nose. On the palate, it shows a noticeable balance between fruit, acidity and softness. The finish is creamy and long-lasting. Thanks to its wonderful complexity, the Lanzerac Chardonnay goes beautifully with smoked salmon, sea bass or paella with seafood.

Lanzerac Commemorative Pinotage 2021

The Lanzerac Commemorative Pinotage 2021 is a tribute to the long tradition and heritage of South African winemaking. Lanzerac, one of the oldest wine estates in the country, is celebrating the launch of the world's first commercial Pinotage wine with this special vintage, which was launched by this very estate in 1959. The Lanzerac Commemorative Pinotage is a true expression of the uniqueness of this indigenous South African grape variety.In the glass, the wine is a deep ruby red with violet reflections. On the nose, it unfolds a rich spectrum of aromas dominated by ripe red fruits such as cherries and raspberries, accompanied by a fine spiciness, notes of dark chocolate, tobacco and a hint of oak. The aromas are intense and multi-layered, underlining the special character and maturity of this wine. On the palate, the Commemorative Pinotage 2021 is powerful and well-structured, with supple tannins and a harmonious balance between fruit and wood. The fruity notes continue, complemented by nuances of spice, coffee and a hint of vanilla resulting from 16 months of ageing in oak barrels. The finish is long-lasting and elegant, with a slight smoky note that gives the wine additional depth.The Lanzerac Commemorative Pinotage 2021 is an excellent accompaniment to hearty meat dishes such as lamb, beef and game. Lanzerac Jonkershoek Reserve

The Lanzerac Jonkershoek Reserve is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Petit Verdot. The grapes for each variety used in this blend come from selected vineyards in the Jonkershoek Valley in South Africa. The grapes were harvested by hand and selected with the utmost care. Only the best grapes made it into this exceptional red wine. Fermentation and maturation took place in French oak. This expressive Cabernet-based blend is full of aromas of black cherry, chocolate, spices and a hint of cassis. On the palate, the Lanzerac Jonkershoek Reserve is juicy, supple and with silky, integrated tannins. It has a wonderfully long finish.This full-bodied wine is a perfect accompaniment to hearty dishes, oxtail, game and rack of lamb with a herb crust.

Lanzerac Le General 2021

Lanzerac Le General is a so-called Bordeaux Blend, which would be assigned to the left bank in Bordeaux, i.e. the Médoc region. This style has its origins in the classic blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Petit Verdot and Merlot.The grapes for this wine all come from the estate's best vineyards in the Jonkershoek Valley in Stellenbosch. The wine matured for 20 months in 1st and 2nd fill French oak barrels. This full-bodied blend announces vanilla and nutmeg spices before a flood of dark berries, cooked plums and blackcurrants hit the palate. Dark chocolate and a hint of smoke are supported by powerful, soft tannins and an endless finish. This vintage has already reached drinking maturity. Decanting recommended.Enjoy this wine with braised rack of lamb with fennel and orange or with a white chocolate mousse with cherries.

Lanzerac Merlot

The grapes for Lanzerac Merlot come from vineyards located in the Jonkershoek Valley near Stellenbosch. These vineyards are divided into four different parcels of land with vines that are between 9 and 17 years old, covering an area of 20.31 acres. This terroir consists of deep red, decomposed granite soils and is located between 125 and 400 metres above sea level. After arrival in the cellar, the grapes were selected by hand and destemmed. Before they were gently pressed, the loose grapes underwent a second selection by hand. Subsequently, the grapes were fermented in stainless steel tanks with pumping over twice a day, allowing an optimal extraction of colour and aromas. The Merlot matured for 12 months in second- and third-fill French oak casks. The optimal point of the ripening process was reached by regular racking. This appetizing Lanzerac Merlot has a lot to offer and leaves nothing to be desired. On the nose, it offers concentrated aromas of black fruit, along with sweet notes of vanilla and spicy aromas. The tannins give the wine more complexity, gently underpinning aromas of plums, black cherries, cooked strawberry purée and dark chocolate, finely rounded off by a long, integrated finish. The Lanzerac Merlot goes beautifully with veal chops and portabello mushrooms, gnocchi in a red pepper sauce with crispy pancetta or with a creamy gruyere and parmesan cheese risotto.

The Lanzerac Méthode Cap Classique (MCC) Blanc de Blancs Brut from the Jonkershoek valley near Stellenbosch is a sparkling wine made from 100% Chardonnay grapes. The vines grow in vineyards with deep, sandy soils, situated between approximately 200 and 400 metres above sea level. Harvesting is done by hand in order to ensure that only fully ripe and healthy grapes are selected.The fine sparkling Lanzerac is a good accompaniment to any occasion. It offers creamy notes of sponge cake, complemented by lively aromas of apples and citrus fruit. The tiny bubbles virtually tingle on the tongue. Lanzerac Mrs. English Chardonnay

In 1914, Elizabeth Katherina English bought the Schoongezicht farm and renamed it Lanzerac. In the following years, one of the most modern wineries at that time was created at the Cape. In order to pay tribute to this impressive woman, this wonderful Chardonnay was produced.The grapes for the Lanzerac Mrs. English Chardonnay come from a single vineyard located in the Jonkershoek valley. The vines are more than 20 years old and are situated 375 metres above sea level. The wine gleams flaxen in the glass and offers citrus aromas on the nose. On the palate, this marvellously complex wine is full-bodied and long-lasting. It was aged in new and used barrels, giving the wine a beautifully clear balance and lots of character. The Mrs. English Chardonnay is wonderfully rounded off by a pre-eminent fruitiness. Lanzerac Pinotage

The grapes for the Lanzerac Pinotage come from vineyards located at an altitude of between 400 and 420 meters above sea level. The prevailing wind here helps to cool the grapes in hot summers. The soils consist mainly of decomposed granite, which favors the deep growth of the vines and the soil retains water better.Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks with regular pumping over. First, second and third-fill oak barrels were used to mature the Lanzerac Pinotage. Maturation took place over a period of 15 months. At this point, the optimal integration between wood and fruit was complete. The result is an excellent color and a scent of ripe berries and plums. On the palate, the red wine is velvety dense, full-bodied, complex and beautifully balanced. Aromas of high-quality chocolate and notes of caramel delight the palate with wonderfully integrated tannins.Enjoy the Lanzerac Pinotage with venison medallions in plum sauce or an Asian curry dish.

Lanzerac Pinotage Rosé

The Lanzerac Pinotage Rosé comes from the Jonkershoek Valley in Stellenbosch. Stellenbosch is probably the best-known wine region in South Africa.After the grapes were pressed, the skins were left in contact with the liquid for around 3 hours. This gives the wine a beautiful, delicate color. The Lanzerac Pinotage Rosé impresses with soft aromatic notes of perfume and rose petals. On the palate, there is plenty of redcurrant and strawberry fruit. This is a soft, dry, slightly perfumed and fruity rosé that is perfect as a terrace wine in the warm summer months.Enjoy this rosé with fresh fruit dishes of all kinds or a prawn, mango and avocado salad or with a refreshing watermelon and feta salad.

Lanzerac Sauvignon Blanc

The Lanzerac Sauvignon Blanc consists of grapes that come from two different vineyards. One of the vineyards is already 19 years old and located 450 metres above sea level. The grapes from these vines give the wine its complexity. The vines that grow in the second vineyard are only 4 years old, giving the wine its freshness. In order to protect the grapes from heat stress, the harvest was carried out early in the morning. After repeated selection in the cellar, the grapes were pressed at a temperature of approximately 57.2 °F. The must remained in contact with the skin for about 6 hours. Subsequently, the wine was fermented at a temperature of 53.6 to 57.2 °F for a period of 10 days. On the nose, the Lanzerac Sauvignon Blanc offers various aromas such as notes of green apple, Asian fruit, pears, white peach and lemon grass. It is soft and creamy on the palate, showing an intense minerality and a surprisingly long finish.Thanks to its vivid acidity, the Lanzerac Sauvignon Blanc goes beautifully with goat’s cheese and seafood salads.
