The Babylonstoren Babel Red Blend is a red wine from South Africa, which is primarily characterized by the Shiraz (Syrah) grape variety with almost 50%. The high-quality blend, matured in French oak, is completed by Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Pinotage.The intense, complex bouquet of the ruby red wine combines notes of cherries, blackberries, mulberries and plums. This fruitiness harmonizes wonderfully with notes of vanilla, dark chocolate as well as lingering oak notes. Rudman recognizes "dark fruits, tobacco and hearty spices".On the palate, the Babylonstoren Babel Red Blend is dry and masterfully balanced. The blend has a full body, pleasantly soft tannins and a dense structure. The aroma is characterized by juicy, black fruits, which harmonize wonderfully with aromas of tobacco and graphite. "The tannin backbone gives definition and focus," says Rudman. The finish lingers for a long time.This red wine from Babylonstoren - located between Paarl and Stellenbosch, around 50 kilometers east of Cape Town - was aged for a year in 300-litre French oak barrels. The barrels used were 30% new and 70% second and third fill.Enjoy the Babylonstoren Babel Red Blend at a drinking temperature of 16 to 18 degrees. It is a fine accompaniment to leg of wild boar cooked at a low temperature or to grilled lamb chops with rosemary.

Boekenhoutskloof The Chocolate Block is an unmistakable taste experience from South Africa. On the nose, this dry blend of almost three quarters Syrah (Shiraz) and smaller proportions of Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache Noir, Cinsault and Viognier combines a variety of notes: Intense cherry notes, cardamom, sweet tobacco, espresso and a hint of perfume come together here. Full-bodied and round on the palate, with very good structure, refreshing acidity, a smoky minerality and aromas of black olives, as well as licorice and ripe plums.The vegan wine from the Franschhoek region was matured in oak for 16 months, with 10% new barrels being used.This exceptional red wine is ideal with pasta and pizza, dark meat (roasted or grilled), smoked meats or medium-strength cheese or hard cheese at a drinking temperature of 18°C.Also available in a 1.5-liter magnum bottle. The Boekenhoutskloof Chocolate Block is a blend of predominantly Syrah (Shiraz) and smaller proportions of Grenache Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cinsault and Viognier. Marc Kent, winemaker from Boekenhoutskloof in South Africa, created a wine with rich aromas of black cherries, cardamom, sweet tobacco, espresso and a hint of perfume with his "Chocolate Block". The dark fruit character is complemented by gentle nuances of ripe plums, violets, black olives, cloves and licorice. This is complemented by finely integrated cocoa-powdered tannins. On the palate, it offers a very good structure, refreshing acidity and a smoky minerality. John Platter awarded this noble and full-bodied wine 4.5 stars.The dry red wine matured for 16 months in French oak barrels.
