For the South African winemakers a good Pinotage is always a challenge. Pinotage makes special demands on the quality of the vineyards and the art of the wine. In the Private Collection the wines have great strength and great depth and it is the art too tame the Pinotage so it becomes not too hard and dry. Perfectly ripe grapes are therefore an important condition. It is taken by the grapes from their own vineyards of Spier in Stellenbosch, where no more than 50 hectoliters per hectare Pinotage is harvested. The grapes are picked by hand in order to arrive undamaged in the basement, without oxidation. The Private Selection is made of only the best parts of the vineyard. The fermentation takes place after a short cold maceration, some in open containers. Then the wine is aged in a mixture of French and American oak barrels. American Wood emphasizes the bright and intense sweet fruit from the Pinotage and accentuates the beautiful character of this variety to a particular way. Colour: intense ruby red. Fragrance: Subtle fragrance with caramalised black cherries, hints of dark spice and dark chocolate. Taste: delicious fruit and elegant taste, pleasant feel of wood and vanilla with a light seasoning, a continuing strength, with great length and nice ripe tannins. Can be drunk now, but can also improve 4 to 7 years.Delicious with a beautiful bouquet with black pepper steak, pasta with pesto and black olives, ripe cheese.

A deep burgundy coloured wine with full force and firm smell somewhat "smoky" with ripe black fruit and gently spiced.Nice full and smooth taste, spicy with ripe red and black fruits of cherry and blackberry.Enjoyed the Spier Discocer Pinotage Shiraz with a traditional barbecue, a grill with spicy sausage, lamb or a nice steak.This South African redwine is a wine to drink immediately but can also easily last for two years.

Spier Discover Rosé 2024

The Spier Discover Rosé comes from the traditional Spier wine estate in Stellenbosch, one of South Africa's best-known wine-growing regions. It shows the fresh, uncomplicated side of South African viticulture.In the glass, it presents itself in a strong rosé color. The bouquet unfolds an explosion of red fruit: strawberries, redcurrants and a hint of cherry and raspberry. Spier Signature Pinotage 2023

By planting the pinotage grapes in rows in a north-easterly direction the grapes are not in the bright afternoon sun. This prevents them to develop a roasted and spicy aroma. And it helps even more that the sea is near, only 8 kilometer away. By low proceeds of 50 hectoliters per hectare the grapes get lots of intensity and the wine has enough strength and depth to let a part of it mature in wooden barrels. Fermentation at no more than 25 ° C ensures plenty of fruit. 40% of the wine matured in French oak barrels or American origin, making this a pleasant vanilla tasty Pinotage without sacrificing the fruit.

Stellenrust Corner Stone Pinotage 2022

Der Stellenrust Cornerstone Pinotage stammt aus der sogenannten Super Premium Range des Weingutes und stellt somit die zweithöchste Stufe der Qualitätsebenen dar. Ein Wein dem viel Aufmerksamkeit geschenkt wird.Südafrika ist bekannt für seinen großen Anteil an Pinotage Weinen, da ist es eine Herausforderung einen besonders guten Pinotage zu vinifizieren. Dr. Tertius Boshoff, Winemaker und Besitzer von Stellenrust, legt deshalb extremen Wert auf die Auswahl der Trauben und deren Verarbeitung. Nach der händischen Ernte werden die Trauben ca. 36 Stunden gepresst und dann in Edelstahltanks vergoren. Die Reifung findet in französischen Eichenfässern über einen Zeitraum von ungefähr 20 Monaten statt.In der Nase zeigt der Stellenrust Cornerstone Pinotage ein Aroma von Blau,- und Himbeeren, dazu kommen Noten von reifem Pfirsich und schwarzer Kirsche. Am Gaumen ist der Wein saftig und mit vollem Körper, delikat und warm mit subtilen Eichentönen. Die stabile Säure macht den Abgang frisch und leicht süß-sauer.Dieser Rotwein eignet sich hervorragend als Essensbegleiter zu scharfer Küche, wie thailändischen Speisen mit viel Curry oder Chili con Carne.

Stellenrust Pinotage 2020

Dieser Rotwein aus Südafrika hinterlässt bleibenden Eindruck. Würzig-fruchtige Noten von Maulbeeren, Brombeeren, Pflaumen und reifem Pfirsich prägen das Bukett des Stellenrust Pinotage. Dazu kommen ergänzende Noten von Karamell und Holzrauch, die den Duftstrauß perfekt abrunden.Am Gaumen ist der reinsortige Pinotage aus der Western Cape-Region körperreich, mit einer sanften Textur und zugleich einer guten Konzentration. Saftig und intensiv fruchtig, mit Nuancen einer orientalischen Würze. Die Tannine sind sehr gut eingebunden. Der Stellenrust Pinotage klingt noch lange nach.Die vollreif gelesenen Trauben werden im Zuge der Vinifizierung 12 Monate im französischen Barrique ausgebaut. Das Ergebnis ist ein südafrikanischer Rotwein mit viel Tiefe und Charakter.

Geburtstages der ältesten Tochter Jessica-Lee.Der Jess Rosé ist eine Cuvee, dominiert von der Rebsorte Pinotage, die wunderschöne Erdbeer- und Himbeeraromen zeigt. Dazu kommen florale Noten, sowie Noten von Wassermelone. Der Wein ist körperreich und voller Aromen. Herausragend ist vor allem der knackige Stil und der fruchtige Gaumen. Windmeul Pinotage 2019

This Pinotage from the Coastal region in South Africa is a fine taste experience. It has a multi-faceted bouquet hinting of plums, berries and bananas, complemented by aromas of coffee and chocolate. On the palate, the wine is well-balanced, medium-bodied, velvety and fruity. This pure varietal Pinotage comes from vines between 14 and 18 years old. The red wine from the venerable Windmeul cooperative was aged for 12 months in second- and third-fill French oak casks. The Windmeul Pinotage is an ideal accompaniment to game, marinated lamb and cheddar or blue cheese with figs.
