The Spier Creative Block 8 from the traditional Spier winery is an expressive cuvée from South Africa that combines eight grape varieties in perfect harmony: Pinotage, Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Merlot, Cinsaut, Malbec, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. The grapes come from vineyards in the Coastal Region, which grow on weathered slate and granite with a loamy subsoil. These soils store water optimally and, together with the cooling influence of the nearby Atlantic, ensure slow maturation and a high concentration of aromas.In the glass, the wine is a deep ruby red with a youthful glow. Intense aromas of black cherries, blackberries, dark chocolate and fine vanilla unfold on the nose. On the palate, it is dense and soft, characterized by juicy wild berries and a hint of dried cranberries. The structure is balanced, the mouthfeel silky and the finish long, with a fine, dry tannin.Vinification is carried out with the utmost care: each grape variety is harvested by hand, fermented separately and aged for 16 months in 300-liter French oak barrels (30% new wood, 40% second passage, 30% third passage). After careful selection and blending, the cuvée matures for a further 2 months to complete its harmony.The Spier Creative Block 8 is a versatile food companion and goes perfectly with Moroccan-spiced, braised lamb shank with root vegetables and a hint of truffle oil or with moussaka with roasted coriander. This red wine is best enjoyed at a drinking temperature of 16-18 °C.

The Spier Discover Rosé comes from the traditional Spier wine estate in Stellenbosch, one of South Africa's best-known wine-growing regions. It shows the fresh, uncomplicated side of South African viticulture.In the glass, it presents itself in a strong rosé color. The bouquet unfolds an explosion of red fruit: strawberries, redcurrants and a hint of cherry and raspberry. On the palate, the wine is fresh, soft and creamy, with juicy fruit, fine spice and a harmonious semi-dry character.Spier Discover Rosé is an excellent accompaniment to chicken dishes, summer soups, pasta, lasagne and grilled tuna. Spier Signature Pinotage 2024

The Pinotage vines from the Spier vineyard are planted in rows facing north-east to south-east and are therefore never exposed to the bright afternoon sun. This prevents the grapes from overheating and developing overly spicy aromas. The proximity to the sea, which is only about 8 kilometers away, is also helpful. A low harvest of 50 hectolitres per hectare gives the grapes plenty of intensity and the wine has enough strength and depth to mature in wooden barrels. Fermentation at no more than 25 °C ensures plenty of fruit. 40% of the wine matures in French or American oak barrels, giving this Pinotage a pleasant vanilla flavor without losing the fruit.Deep cherry red in the glass, the bouquet smells of delicious fresh fruit, cherries and coconut. There are also various spices such as pepper, vanilla, leather and tobacco notes. On the palate, a fresh and refined taste: soft and creamy, with lots of cherry, raspberry, tobacco and a hint of smokiness, robust in the aftertaste, beautiful and spicy.The Spier Signature Pinotage is delicious with a classic burger, crispy roast turkey, roast suckling pig with fruity barbecue sauce or roast eggplants. Spier Summertime Moscato Rosé

The Summertime Moscato Rosé from the Spier winery in South Africa's Western Cape seduces with aromas of red berries, pear, strawberry, apricot and a hint of orange peel. Light to medium-bodied on the palate, harmoniously fruity with a crisp, refreshing finish that emphasizes the fine nutmeg note.The rosé is made from Hanepoot, Colombard and Pinotage. The grapes are gently pressed and fermented in stainless steel tanks, with fermentation stopped early to preserve the natural residual sugar. Before bottling, the wine matures for at least two months on the fine lees, which gives it additional freshness and harmony.Pure and slightly chilled, Summertime Moscato Rosße is a delight with fresh desserts or spicy curries and develops its full aroma at 6-8 °C.

Stellenrust Corner Stone Pinotage 2023

Der Stellenrust Cornerstone Pinotage stammt aus der sogenannten Super Premium Range des Weingutes und stellt somit die zweithöchste Stufe der Qualitätsebenen dar. Ein Wein dem viel Aufmerksamkeit geschenkt wird.Südafrika ist bekannt für seinen großen Anteil an Pinotage Weinen, da ist es eine Herausforderung einen besonders guten Pinotage zu vinifizieren. Dr. Tertius Boshoff, Winemaker und Besitzer von Stellenrust, legt deshalb extremen Wert auf die Auswahl der Trauben und deren Verarbeitung. Nach der händischen Ernte werden die Trauben ca. 36 Stunden gepresst und dann in Edelstahltanks vergoren. Die Reifung findet in französischen Eichenfässern über einen Zeitraum von ungefähr 20 Monaten statt.In der Nase zeigt der Stellenrust Cornerstone Pinotage ein Aroma von Blau,- und Himbeeren, dazu kommen Noten von reifem Pfirsich und schwarzer Kirsche. Am Gaumen ist der Wein saftig und mit vollem Körper, delikat und warm mit subtilen Eichentönen. Die stabile Säure macht den Abgang frisch und leicht süß-sauer.Dieser Rotwein eignet sich hervorragend als Essensbegleiter zu scharfer Küche, wie thailändischen Speisen mit viel Curry oder Chili con Carne.
