Cantina Tramin Loam Cabernet-Merlot Riserva 2022

The Loam Cabernet Merlot Riserva consists of 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc. This is a cuvée that could have been produced in the Bordeaux region. The method of ageing is also similar to that used in Bordeaux. After a meticulous harvest by hand, the grapes are fermented in large wooden casks at a temperature of 82.4 °F, leading to an intense aroma and colour, amongst other things. The ageing was carried out in small barriques for a period of 12 months. Subsequently, the wine matured for six months in large wooden casks. It was put on the market only after ageing another six months in the bottle. The special quality of the grapes, the interaction of the different grape varieties and the careful production guarantee the longevity of the Loam. This wine will be extraordinary even in ten years. The Cantina Tramin Loam Cabernet-Merlot Riserva is fruity and well-balanced. The intense but fine tannins are wonderfully integrated, giving the wine power, balance and an enormous depth.The Loam is a ruby red in colour. On the nose, it offers fruity, slightly astringent aromas of wild cherries, chocolate and various berries, complemented by notes of wild herbs. Each sip caresses the palate with aromas of red berries, dried fruit and subtle hints of cedar. The tannins underpin the finish with a blend of mineral and salty nuances.Enjoy the Cantina Tramin Loam with roasts with dark sauces, game or hearty grilled meat. It also goes beautifully with various blue cheeses.

The Merlot-Cabernet Sauvignon blend is complemented somewhat by the Cabernet Franc grape variety. The Cabernet Franc gives the red wine its light spiciness. The grapes for Cantina Tramin's Rungg all come from vineyards located to the south of the village of Tramin. The vines grow on hilly terrain at an altitude of around 300 meters. The soils have a gravelly subsoil, the soil above is clayey and calcareous. The terroir gives the wine from Italy a pleasant tannin structure and elegance. The wine is matured in barriques and larger wooden barrels to bring out the aromas.The color of the Rungg is garnet red. The dry wine has an intense aroma of cherry, redcurrant and dried fruit. Wonderfully round on the palate with chocolate aromas and light roasted flavors. Château Batailley 2018

The Grand Vin from Château Batailley is one of the great classics from Pauillac in Bordeaux and impressively embodies the nobility and longevity of this traditional appellation. Year after year, the estate, which is one of the oldest in Pauillac, produces a red wine that masterfully combines finesse, structure and authenticity.Clearly dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon with 74%, 23% Merlot and 3% Petit Verdot, 60% of the 2018 Batailley was matured in new wooden barrels.It is an extremely elegant wine, with aromas of cassis, tobacco, graphite, dark berries, black chocolate and mint. Lots of structure on the palate, powerful bouquet, creamy, lots of fine tannins. The finish is long and fresh.Ready to drink from 2026, this wine should be given some time to fully blossom. It will then be able to delight connoisseurs with its multifaceted and deep aromas for almost 20 years.
