Corvina Veronese

This top wine from Veneto has an intense, garnet red color. The grape varieties Corvina, Rondinella and Molinara, which are characteristic of the region, give the wine its unique taste. Intense and persistent cherry aromas on the nose. On the palate, it is velvety, slightly bitter and reminiscent of cherry and bitter almonds. Incidentally, the Italian "amaro" means bitter. The grapes ripen on the hills of the small villages around Verona at an altitude of 150 to 400 meters above sea level. They are harvested by hand, usually at dawn or in the evening. This prevents the harvested grapes from being exposed to excessive heat and losing freshness. The quality of the grape skin is particularly important for Amarone, as it determines the tannins, color and flavor intensity. Incidentally, legend has it that a cellar worker in the 1930s actually wanted to create Recioto, but forgot the wine in the barrels. Fermentation continued and the sugar was converted into alcohol - which also explains the bitterness.Mabi's Amarone della Valpolicella Classico is an excellent accompaniment to red meat and game.

Zenato Valpolicella Superiore 0,375 l (Halbflasche) 2022

The Zenato Valpolicella is somewhat similar to the Bardolino; however, the Valpolicella is a little more powerful and shows a fuller body – it is simply of better quality. The wine consists of Corvina Veronese (responsible for the bouquet and the acidity), Rondinella (lots of sugar) and Sangiovese (gives the wine its elegance). This is a wine that can be enjoyed young, but another few years of ageing in the wine cellar will further enhance its qualities. For years, Valpolicella has been one of Italy’s most famous wines. Unfortunately, one can find many Valpolicella wines of poor quality on the market but fortunately, we don’t have to worry about this as far as Zenato wines are concerned, as Zenato produces only high-quality wines.

Zenato Riserva Amarone della Valpolicella Classico 2018

Magistral smell and taste sensation!Amarone has an impressive elegance in the center and an inviting bouquet of ripe fruit. Deep ruby red with hints of fine herbs. On the palate, the powerful, warm and rich flavorinfluences, including wild cherries and chocolate, very impressive.Excellent for a lifetime ...The absolute 'king' of this region, made from only the best grapes of exceptionally good harvests. Hand picked and selected and the grapes are let to dry out for several months with the result that much of the moisture in the grapes evaporates allowing the grapes to be very rich in sugars. The best and ripest Corvina grapes supplemented with a little Rondinella and Sangiovese. After fermentation the wine is matured in Slavonian oak casks for four years and then another 12 months in bottle.
