Robert Parker enthuses about the S.L.V. Cabernet Sauvignon, describing it as offering ‘sweet tannins, a succulent, fleshy mouthfeel, beautiful concentration and texture, and a long finish result in a sumptuous, irresistible mouthful of Cabernet Sauvignon’.

The S.L.V. Cabernet Sauvignon has a fascinatingly multi-faceted bouquet offering aromas of cocoa powder, blackberries, currants and blueberries, which harmonize perfectly with a lovely spice. On the palate, the Stag’s Leap Vineyards is opulent and concentrated, with simultaneously powerful and round tannins. Notes of black currants and sweet oak characterize its finish.

The wonderfully structured tannins, the lush fruit and the pleasant minerality signal the exceptional storage capability of this Cabernet Sauvignon from California. The Stag‘s Leap Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon matured for 21 months in new French oak casks. The grapes of individual parcels of land were vinified separately and only blended at the end of the barrel ageing.

The S.L.V. (Stag‘s Leap Vineyards) wines are legendary. The exemplary vintage passed without any erratic weather conditions, providing the wine-growers with exceptional grapes and resulting in the S.L.V. Cabernet Sauvignon wine which Robert Parker simply calls ‘a beauty’.

This is a fabulous showing in a very challenging yearThe Robert Mondavi Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon has a great depth, yet is remarkably accessible. 93% of the grapes for this blend come from the legendary vineyard To Kalon. The blend of predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon as well as small amounts of Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Merlot and Malbec has a deep dark color. On the nose the wine is wonderfully diverse. It offers intense aromas of dark fruit, sage, bay leaf and fine nuances of black pepper.On the palate, savory and with a clear, harmonious structure. The freshness, density, complexity and the persistent finish make the wine an extraordinary creation.The new wine was drained and gently pressed into 92% new French-oak barrels for malolactic fermentation, assuring seamless integration of fruit and oak. The final blend was assembled through repeated tasting trials over the 20 months of barrel aging.
