Rombauer Carneros Chardonnay

This high quality Chardonnay from California matured for nine months in barriques. The white wine unites diverse notes of ripe apples, freshly roasted hazelnuts, dried apricots and tropical fruit in its bouquet, complemented by nuances of vanilla, bakery spices and hints of butter. On the palate, the Rombauer Carneros Chardonnay is creamy and velvety, with a juicy, very acidic finish, which is characterised by lots of yellow fruit and notes of almond biscuits.

Rombauer Vineyards

Der Ex-Luftwaffenpilot Koerner Rombauer, dessen Vorfahren aus dem Rheingau stammten, und seine Frau Joan gründeten die Rombauer Vineyards 1980 am Silverado Trail in bester Lage im Napa Valley.Irma Rombauer, seine Großtante, verfasste das weltbekannte Buch "The joy of cooking" und weckte spätestens damit das Bewusstsein der Familie für die Wichtigkeit von Speisen und Getränken im Leben.

Wurden die ersten Jahrgänge noch mit Hilfe so namhafter Nachbarn wie Shafer oder Stag´s Leap produziert, so kehrte sich dies schnell um und Rombauer half aufstrebenden Wineries wie z.B. Dominus oder Duckhorn bei der Herstellung der ersten Weine, da man kontinuierlich beste Parzellen ankaufte und Anlagen und Keller vergrößerte. 1993 tauchte der Rombauer Chardonnay erstmals in der "Top List 100" des Wine Spectators auf Platz 68 auf; heute haben die Zinfandels und Chardonnays ein Abonnement auf die Spitzenplätze rund um den Globus.

Obwohl immer noch ein Familienbetrieb, bedeutet dieses nicht, dass hier gespart wird. Klotzen, nicht kleckern, ist die typisch amerikanische Devise, die dazu führte, dass z.B. die akribische Traubenselektion mit optischen Sortiermaschinen durchgeführt wird und ein unterirdischer Lagerkeller von über einer Meile Länge gebaut wurde.

Das Motto wird auf den Wein zu 100% übertragen; eine so überbordende Frucht, Cremigkeit, Fülle, Kraft und Expression gibt es selten auf diesem Weinplaneten. Die Rombauers behalten dabei jedoch immer im Auge, dass ein stimmiges food-pairing möglich ist und die Weine von Anfang an und über einen langen Zeitraum trinkbar sind.

Chateau Buena Vista Chardonnay Carneros
The Buena Vista Chardonnay Carneros is a Chardonnay produced in the Burgundy style and comes from the wine-growing region of Carneros located north of Sonoma, California. All of the wine matured in wooden casks. Subsequently, it was aged for 12 months in French and Hungarian oak casks, of which 25% were new French oak barrels. The Buena Vista Chardonnay Carneros is a beautiful honey yellow in the glass and is redolent of very sweet apples, marzipan and peach blossoms, underpinned by notes of pears and lemon, complemented by nuances of vanilla and spices.
