Very deep, youthfull colour, intense almost purple hue.

Very classic Rubicon nose with violets, ripe plum, cedarwood and intense spiceynesss.

Still very young but brooding, promising further maturation potential. The palate is full bodied, structured but packed with fresh dark fruit and rounded, linear tannins.

Der Boekenhoutskloof Chocolate Block ist ein unverwechselbares Geschmackserlebnis aus Südafrika. In der Nase vereint dieser Blend aus knapp drei Viertel Syrah (Shiraz) sowie kleineren Anteilen von Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache Noir, Cinsault und Viognier vielfältige Noten: Intensive Kirschnoten, Kardamom, süßer Tabak, Espresso und ein Hauch von Parfüm kommen hier zusammen. Im Glas ein heller, lebendiger Platin-Farbton mit grüner Tönung. Komplexes Bouquet von Zitronengras, Limetten, Hafermehl, ausdrucksstarker Mineralität.Am Gaumen ist der südafrikanische Wein von mittlerem Körper, aber mit klarer Säure, Aromen von Kalk, Marzipan, cremige ausgedehnte Eichen-, Apfel- und Birnbaum-Merkmale. Durch eine reine, lineare mineralische Note ergibt sich ein sauberer und langer Abgang.Von Hand gepflückt, als gesamte Partie gepresst und sofort in 300 Liter Fässer aus französischer Eiche gefüllt. Dabei wurden 60% neue Fässer und 40% Fässer, die schon bereits einmal befüllt waren, verwendet. Die Gärung fand in Eiche statt, teils als natürliche und teils als malolaktische Gärung. Die Reifung erfolgte für 12 Monate in Eichenfässern mit gelegentlichem Rühren vor dem Abfüllen in Flaschen.Dieser Weißwein aus der Region Stellenbosch passt perfekt zu gegrilltem Fisch, weißem und rotem Fleisch.

This wine has a deep dark inky garnet colour with a touch of red brick evident on the rim. This is an intensely complex wine with intense dark berry fruit and crème de cassis notes on the nose. There is an inky heady dark character on the nose reminiscent of dark chocolate, cardamom spice and roasted fennel bulb. Always evident on this wine and a hallmark of every vintage is the hint of Eucalyptus or mint. The palate is full and rich mirroring most of what is evident on the nose. Displaying cocoa, mocha notes ripe berry fruits and a spicy grip. The tannins are broad and textured and leave the wine with a dry finish as well as there being a certain amount of freshness which results in the wine lingering on and on.Food pairing: Veal Osso Bucco or Grilled fillet steak served with red wine sauce, bone marrow, shallots and French fries.

On the palate, the wine has an elegant mouthfeel, with fine, noticeable tannins. Initially, the Morgenster Estate Reserve presents an interaction of fruit and light sweetness. It is well-balanced due to a wonderful harmony between acidity and minerality. Sip by sip, the wine opens up further, fully revealing its great potential. It is a genuine delight that can already be enjoyed now but will further improve over the next two decades. Die trockene Gärung wurde in offenen Behältern vorgenommen. Nach 10 Tagen wurde der Wein gepresst und einer malolaktischen Gärung in neuen, stark getoasteten Holzfässer unterzogen. Reifte dann für 15 Monate in Barrique und anschließend 3 Jahre auf der Flasche bevor eine Freigabe für den Handel erfolgte.In der Nase rote Frucht, nach Preiselbeeren und wilden Erdbeeren mit Noten von wilden Pilzen und einer ausgeprägten Moschus Note. Im Mund mit mittlerem Körper und perfekt reifen Pinot Fruchtaromen von roten Früchten, Gewürzen und Backpulver und einen Hauch von Salzigem verspielt wahrzunehmen. Die samtigen Tannine sind gut strukturiert und zeigen sich ausgewogen und lang am Gaumen.Perfekt zu hellen und dunklen Fleischsorten, Parmaschinken, gegrilltem Fisch, Champignons und Käse.
