Thelema Mountain Vineyards

Thelema "The Mint"
Thelema The Mint comes from the Stellenbosch region in South Africa. The wine has a long tradition and is proven to be one of the best Cabernet Sauvignons in the country. The origin of the "mint" character is attributed to the transfer of air from the eucalyptus trees bordering this particular Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard to the grapes. The outer wax layer of the berries adsorbs eucalyptol, a compound responsible for the aroma, which is released into the air by the trees. It then dissolves on the skins during the fermentation process, inevitably giving the wine a "minty" character that is unique to this vineyard. In the glass, the wine is a deep dark red. The nose is characterized by aromas of ripe red berries, cassis and dark chocolate. On the palate, a hint of mint complements the opulent overall impression. The wine has fine tannins with a long mocha finish.Maturing for 18 months in wooden barrels, with 40% new French oak and 60% older barrels, gives Thelema The Mint depth and longevity. Try this exceptional wine with roast lamb, for example.Make sure you get a few bottles, as the wine is already sold out from the winery.

Meerlust Rubicon
Rubicon is the flagship wine from Meerlust Wine Estate. This intense and elegant wine shows everything: complexity and depth that are so characteristic of Meerlust wines. The dry red wine from South Africa is full and rich in flavor with creamy, concentrated fruit. Juicy and lively tannins and earthy tones.A super dark ruby red in the glass, almost opaque. A light orange hue shimmers at the edge of the glass. A smoky aroma rises to the nose. Then, with a little air, the bouquet develops into dark berries, yet not overloaded, but fresh and clear. The Rubicon is an intense experience on the palate. The fruity notes from the nose are echoed on the palate and are reminiscent of black cherry and blackcurrant. This is followed by aromas reminiscent of a cigar box. Enormous concentration and complexity on the palate. With juicy tannins. Further aromas can be perceived, reminiscent of milk chocolate, cocoa, then plums and blueberries, but also sweetish roasted aromas. There is also a hint of tobacco. And a fine spicy character in the long finish. The vineyards of Meerlust extend on a steep strip on the western flank of the Helderberg, in the south of the Stellenbosch region, about 5 kilometers from False Bay, from which a cool breeze always blows.

Thelema Merlot
The Thelema Merlot is an elegant, full-bodied red wine from the renowned vineyards of South Africa. It embodies a remarkable balance between gentle elegance and lively fruitiness. Ripe red cherries and juicy plums dominate the aroma and make for a seductive start that promises a tasty experience. The palate is round and harmonious, with a lingering, graceful finish that impressively underlines the finesse of the wine.During vinification, the grapes are carefully destemmed to preserve as many whole berries as possible. After fermentation in steel tanks, the wine is drawn off, transferred to storage tanks and placed in French oak barrels for malolactic fermentation. The Thelema Merlot is aged for 18 months in French oak barrels, 25% of which are new barrels and the rest in older barrels, which adds depth, complexity and subtle spice. This Merlot is an excellent accompaniment to grilled meat, game, hearty stews or mature cheese.
