Aus besten Weinberglagen kommt der Wolfberger Hengst Grand Cru Pinot Gris AOC, was wir aus dem Grand Cru (großes Gewächs) in seinem Namen entnehmen können. Hengst steht für den Weinberg, auf dem die Pinot Gris Trauben des französischen Weißweins wachsen. Der Boden besteht hier aus Kalkmergel und schafft die besten Voraussetzungen für den ausdrucksstarken Grauburgunder, den das Weingut Wolfberger geschaffen hat.

Das Weingut erntet nach Best-Practice Methoden. Es handelt sich dabei um unverbindliche Empfehlungen, wie bei der Ernte vorzugehen ist. So ist man flexibler als bei einer Standardmethode und Ausdruck sowie Charakter der Weinberge werden optimiert. Die Qualität der Reben kann hierdurch ständig überwacht werden.

Die Farbe des Weißweins ist bezaubernd Goldgelb mit schimmernden Silbertönen. Die Nase überrascht ein Hauch von Honig und im Geschmack finden sich Ausgewogenheit und Restsüße, unterstrichen von Toast-Aromen. Der Abgang ist bemerkenswert lang.
