CORIMBO, 100% “Tinta del País”, (the local term for tempranillo), the result of sustainably grown gobelet vines from the area around La Horra and Roa (Burgos), with an ageing time of 12 months in French and American oak barrels. The colour is very deep red on a cherry coloured background, with bluish red-cherry hints around the rim.The aroma is very expressive and intense with a fruit character over a touch of oak. On the nose, black and red fruit (for example, cherry and blackberry), a sensation of freshness, hints of aromatic herbs and plants, earthiness, cocoa, and a final summer pine warmth. On the palate, it is full, well-structured, with abundant fruit and freshness.In short, a most enjoyable Ribera del Duero with personality and class.Bodegas RODA has diversified into Ribera del Duero. After twenty years’ experience in D.O.Ca Rioja, RODA wanted to apply its knowledge and experience to a diversification into D.O. Ribera del Duero, creating Bodegas LA HORRA. The new company will take advantage of the existing synergies in techniques, management, R&D&I and commercial distribution of its wines - SELA, RODA, RODA I, CIRSION, and of its olive oils, DAURO and AUBOCASSA, products available in 55 countries.

Corimbo I 2018

This is the first appearance on the market of the great wine CORIMBO I. It is 100% “Tinta del País”, aged for 16 months in French and American oak barrels.Dark, deep and intense in colour, with a cherry-red rim. On the nose, it is heady but elegant and pleasant, with plenty of ripe black fruit such as plum and blackberry. In addition, mineral hints and quality sweet spices combine with black chocolate, ripe fruit and plum kernel.On the palate, it is full-bodied and structured, with a powerful and refreshing back taste of medicinal herbs and pine. Top quality tannin with an excellent finish of very ripe black fruit, cocoa and fresh herbal hints. Bodegas RODA has diversified into Ribera del Duero. Protos Crianza DO 2020

Der Protos Crianza ist einer der wohl besten Crianzas aus dem Ribera del Duero. Die Trauben wurden handgelesen und in Kisten von maximal 20 kg auf das Weingut transportiert. Sie stammen von Weinbergen die mindestens 25 Jahre alt sind. Nach einer Selektion der Trauben und Pressung wurde das Material inklusive Schalen für 21 Tage bei 28 Grad Celsius vergoren. Hergestellt aus 100% Tempranillo, in dieser Region Tinta del Pais genannt, wurde der Protos Crianza, wie für einen Crianza nach den Gesetzen vorgegeben, zunächst 14 Monate in amerikanischen und französischen Eichenfässern ausgebaut. Dabei fand der Wein zu 1/3 in neuen französischen Fässern und zu je 1/3 in einmal bzw. zweimal belegten französischen und amerikanischen Fässern seine Reifung. Danach schloss sich noch eine 12-monatige Lagerung auf der Flasche an. Die Farbe des Protos Crianza ist klar und von extremer Intensität und hat ein dunkles Kirschrot mit Granatrand. Die Vielzahl an vorhandenen Aromen lässt sich kaum beschreiben. Sowohl Brombeere, Pflaume, Feige, Kirsche, Kokosnuss sowie Gewürz-, Holz-, und mineralische Noten sind zu finden. Am Gaumen ist der Wein kräftig, fruchtig mit viel Saft, bietet Röstaromen und einen intensiven, langen Abgang. Die Säure ist dabei gut eingebunden.

Protos Reserva DO 2019

The Protos Reserva comes from vineyards in the Ribera del Duero that are over 50 years old. The grapes are harvested by hand. This magnificent Reserva is made from 100% grapes of the Tinta del Pais variety, commonly known as Tempranillo. After the grapes were subjected to further manual selection and pressed, fermentation began on the skins at a temperature of 28 degrees Celsius. The fermentation process lasted a total of 24 days. The wine then matured for 18 months, 2/3 in French and 1/3 in American oak barrels, before continuing its development for a further 24 months in the bottle.The color of the Protos Reserva is an intense dark red with almost black reflections towards the rim. On the nose, there are clear notes of black fruit, as well as toasted and spicy notes. Cinnamon, tobacco, cocoa, vanilla and wet gravel can also be perceived. Black pepper, rosemary and laurel reflect the spicy notes. Overall, the wine leaves a complex and elegant impression. On the palate, the Protos Reserva is incredibly intense and powerful. Fruitiness is complemented by roasted aromas and spicy notes. The well-integrated acidity and rounded tannins support the muscular structure, which guarantees the wine a long finish. Already a real pleasure today, the Protos Reserva will also prove its potential in later years.Braised venison, pheasant with grapes, braised wild boar, stuffed pigeon, partridge with chocolate, pigeon with nuts and roast venison are just a few of the possible dishes that Protos Reserva can be paired with. It also cuts a fine figure with mature cheese variations.

Protos Roble DO 2023

Mit dem Protos Roble beginnt die Linie der berühmten Protos Rotweine. Der zu 100% aus der Rebsorte Tinta del Pais, so nennt man die Sorte Tempranillo im Anbaugebiet Ribera del Duero, hergestellte Joven (Bezeichnung für den Jungwein eines spanischen Weingutes) lässt schon die Schaffenskraft der Bodega erkennen. Die entrappten Trauben wurden nach der Pressung ca. 12 Tage vergoren. Die Temperatur wurde dabei ständig überwacht. Anschließend verweilte der Wein für 6 Monate in amerikanischen Eichenfässern, um danach noch 6 Monate eine Flaschenreifung zu erhalten, bevor er auf den Markt kam.Die Farbe des Protos Roble ist kirschrot und wirft violette Schatten. In der Nase duftet der Wein schön fruchtig und intensiv würzig ohne dabei aufdringlich zu wirken. Die festzustellenden Aromen von Blaubeere, Sauerkirsche und Waldfrüchten harmonieren mit leichten Noten von Vanille, Tabak und Kakao. Am Gaumen präsentiert sich der Wein mit fester Struktur, kraftvoll saftig und rund. Wir empfehlen den Protos Roble leicht gekühlt bei 15 Grad zu genießen, dann bleiben die fruchtigen Noten erhalten und ein elegantes Geschmackserlebnis mit langem Abgang und sanften Tanninen entsteht.Nicht nur solo kann der Protos Roble überzeugen, auch als Essensbegleiter zu Salami oder Käse gefällt er sehr gut. Gerichte auf Tomatenbasis ergänzt er ebenso wie Pasta oder gefüllte Aubergine.

Protos Rosado Clarete DO 2024

The fruitiness of Protos Rosado is clearly in the foreground. Wonderful notes of strawberries, dried blackberries and sweet cherries can be detected on the nose and palate.As you would expect from a premium producer from the Ribera del Duero, the Rosado already demonstrates the full expertise of the Spanish winery. Made from the Tempranillo grape variety, the Rosado has undergone a 16-hour cold maceration to allow the aromas typical of the grape variety to fully develop. The color is intense pink and the taste is fresh and very fruity, beautifully balanced, but not boring. The fine combination of fruit and acidity gives the Portos Rosado enough power and volume to pamper the taste buds with plenty of body and balance.The Protos Rosado can be recommended without reservation with many sausage specialties, and is also an excellent choice with stews based on beans or lentils. This dry rosé wine is even an excellent accompaniment to grilled or roasted veal or lamb chops.
