Der Blend aus 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 29% Cabernet Franc, 18% Merlot und 3% Petit Verdot duftet nach roten und dunklen Früchten (Johannisbeeren), erdigen Noten sowie nach Fynbos, den für Südafrika typischen Gewächsen. Weinkritiker Greg de Bruyn beschreibt das Bouquet in Platter’s Wine Guide so: „Waldboden-Erdigkeit, jodhaltige Mineralität und saftige Cassis-Frucht, durchzogen von Tabakwürze.“Am Gaumen ist der Rotwein aus der Stellenbosch-Region trocken und vielschichtig, mit großer Konzentration und Frische. Die schöne Mineralität und die aromatische Tiefe (dunkle Beeren im Vordergrund) runden das Geschmackserlebnis ab. „Geschmeidig und rund nach 18 Monaten in größtenteils neuem Eichenholz“, urteilt auch de Bruyn. Der warme Jahrgang 2018 brachte Trauben mit sehr konzentrierten Aromen hervor. Durch den anderthalbjährigen Ausbau in Eichenholzfässern, die zu 70% neu waren, erreicht der Alto Estate Blend dann endgültig seine außergewöhnliche Qualität.Entdecken Sie den Rotwein bei einer Trinktemperatur von 16 bis 18 Grad. The Alto Rouge consists of 5 grape varieties: Cabernet Franc, Shiraz, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. The grapes for this wine come from north- and northwest-facing vineyards located on the slopes of the Helderberg Mountains. Thus, the vines are cooled by a fresh breeze in the afternoon, supporting the wine’s elegance and balance. The Alto Rouge is a deep ruby-red in the glass. On the nose, aromas of red fruit are predominant, along with hints of chocolate and light notes of woodchips. This cuvée is distinguished by its soft tannins and wonderful fruit aromas. Overall, this is a wine with style, lots of complexity and a high ageing potential. Winemaker Bertho van de Westhuizen recommends enjoying the Alto Rouge with game birds and tender red meat.

Ein dunkles Violett im Glas lässt schon die Komplexität dieses Rotweines erahnen. Die Nase zeigt sich verführerisch und dicht. Der Anthonij Rupert Optima duftet herrlich nach Pfeffer und dunklen Früchten. Am Gaumen wunderbar elegant und geschmeidig mit Noten von Blaubeere, Cassis, Zedernholz, Veilchen, Kakao und Zigarrenkiste. Die samtige Textur mit feinen geschliffenen Tanninen verleiht dem Wein eine besondere Raffinesse. Dabei sind die Eichenaromen stets harmonisch integriert. 20 Monate verbrachte der Antonij Rupert Optima in Barrique Fässern, was ihm eine umfangreiche Aromatik gibt. In allen Belangen ein besonderer Rotwein. Anthonij Rupert Optima genießt man am besten zu Steak vom Grill oder einem indischen Curry Gericht.

Der hochwertige, in französischem Eichenholz ausgebaute Blend wird von Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot und Pinotage vervollständigt. Das Ergebnis ist ein Rotwein, der im Endergebnis des Jahrgangs 2021 „bewundernswert“ ist. Dieses Urteil stammt von Christine Rudman, die dem Babel Red Blend in John Platter’s Wine Guide 4 von 5 Sternen verleiht. Das intensive, komplexe Bouquet des rubinroten Weins vereint Noten von Kirschen, Brombeeren, Maulbeeren und Pflaumen. Diese Fruchtigkeit harmoniert wunderbar mit Noten von Vanille, dunkler Schokolade sowie tragenden Eichennoten. Rudman erkennt „dunkle Früchte, Tabak und herzhafte Gewürze“.Am Gaumen ist der Babylonstoren Babel Red Blend trocken und meisterhaft ausgewogen. Die Assemblage besitzt einen vollen Körper, angenehm weiche Tannine und eine dichte Struktur. Das Aromenspiel wird geprägt von saftigen, schwarzen Früchten, die wundervoll harmonieren mit Aromen von Tabak und Graphit. „Das Tanninrückgrat gibt Definition und Fokus“, urteilt Rudman. The Boekenhoutskloof Cabernet Sauvignon is an elegant and powerful red wine from South Africa that impresses with its remarkable depth, structure and aromatic complexity. This red wine made from Cabernet Sauvignon and a small proportion of Cabernet Franc comes from organically farmed vineyards in Franschhoek. The grapes are carefully harvested by hand, rigorously selected and then fermented spontaneously in egg-shaped concrete tanks. The wine is matured in 95% new French oak barrels - a vinification process that gives the wine its elegant texture, velvety tannins and characteristic roasted aromas.In the glass, the wine is a deep purple red. From the very first whiff, it reveals a complex bouquet of dark berries, eucalyptus, graphite and herbs such as lavender and thyme. There are also nuances of liquorice, black tea and fine spices, which underline the aristocratic character of this Cabernet Sauvignon. On the palate, the wine is concentrated but never overloaded. The fruit is densely interwoven with a fine minerality, the acid structure is precise, the tannins ripe and supple. The wine lingers on the finish - with notes of cassis, mocha and a hint of leather.The Boekenhoutskloof Cabernet Sauvignon is an ideal accompaniment to aromatic, spicy meat dishes. It goes particularly well with rack of lamb with a herb crust, braised beef with rosemary or game dishes with a dark sauce. This wine also reveals its full potential with mature hard cheese and hearty vegetarian dishes such as mushroom risotto.
