4 Kilos Vinicola 4 Kilos Tinto

The 4 Kilos Rot is a characterful red wine from the Spanish island of Mallorca that impressively showcases the distinctiveness of the native Callet grape variety. This single-varietal Callet comes from 4 Kilos Vinícola and combines Mediterranean fruit with freshness, subtle spice, and an elegant, multi-layered structure. As an expressive red wine from Mallorca, it embodies a distinctive style that highlights its origin and the character of the grape variety.

In the winemaking process, the winery relies on careful hand-harvesting and gentle handling of the grapes. Fermentation takes place partly in stainless steel tanks and partly in large wooden vats. The wine is then aged in French oak barrels from the Allier region with a medium-plus toast. This aging process lends the Callet additional depth and structure without overshadowing its fruity and Mediterranean character.

On the nose, the 4 Kilos Red unfolds intense aromas of red and dark fruits, accompanied by Mediterranean herbs, balsamic notes, and subtle hints of spice. On the palate, this Mallorcan red wine is juicy and expressive, with lively acidity, pronounced yet well-integrated tannins, and a harmonious structure. The long, fruit-forward finish underscores its distinctive character and makes it an exciting discovery for lovers of characterful Spanish red wines.

As a versatile food pairing, the 4 Kilos Red harmonizes perfectly with grilled meats, lamb dishes, Mediterranean stews, and spicy tapas. This red wine from Mallorca also pairs excellently with aged cheeses and a selection of Spanish cured meats. Its combination of fruit, freshness, and herbal spice makes it an interesting companion for aromatic Mediterranean cuisine.

Mauro Cosecha Tinto is the entry-level wine from Bodegas Mauro, although to speak of entry-level here is actually completely wrong. In terms of quality, this red wine brings maximum enjoyment to the glass. Bodegas Mauro has been known for its consistently high quality for many years. The nose is incredibly concentrated and the Mauro Cosecha Tinto smells wonderfully of black fruits and exotic spices. The palate is endowed with clear primary notes and precise tannins. A wonderfully refined, polished wine that impresses with its mineral notes and rich fruit aromas. As winemaker Mariano Garcia describes it, the special feature of this wine is its remarkable freshness combined with a supple feel.Aged for 15 months in French and American oak, the Mauro Cosecha Tinto not only has a long finish, but also expresses its longevity.
