The Warwick Professor Black Sauvignon Blanc is a white wine aged in stainless steel tanks. The grapes come from two different plots located on the heights of the Simonsberg in Stellenbosch. One was planted in 1985, the other in 2003. The diverse harvest adds complexity, different flavors and structure to the wine. The grapes are harvested by hand in the early morning and immediately transported to the cellar. Before pressing, the mash remains on the skins for 6-12 hours. Then the aromatic Sauvignon Blanc is fermented cold in stainless steel tanks. The 100 days of aging on the fine lees gives the Sauvignon melt.

Produced in limited quantities, the Warwick Professor Black Sauvignon Blanc displays typical aromas of elderflower, nettle, passion fruit and lime. Lively and zesty on the palate with an abundance of passion fruit and lemon with a fresh lingering acidity.

The name is a tribute to "Professor Black", a researcher who grew South Africa's first peaches on Simonsberg.

Enjoy this wonderful wine simply solo or serve it with fresh oysters, salad with goat cheese or grilled trout.

The Professor Black Pitch Black produced by the South African Warwick winery unites the famous Bordeaux grape varieties Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Malbec with the Cinsault grape variety that is very common in South Africa. This combination might seem unusual, but it creates a very special red wine. The Cinsault grapes give this wine a pungent freshness and vividness. The Warwick Professor Black Pitch Black has an enticing bouquet hinting of currants, paprika, vanilla and fresh cedar. On the palate, it offers expressive earthy aromas and notes of various spices. Due to the 18 months of ageing in French oak casks, the wine shows lots of extract and depth. Its fruity aromas of plums and raspberries are impressive, while the finish is extremely concentrated and long-lasting. The Professor Black Pitch Black can already be enjoyed now if you give it some time to breathe before you drink it. However, it will be a real delight over the next ten years as well.The wine is an excellent accompaniment to a classic pork roast, roast leg of lamb or a juicy steak.

Der Warwick First Lady Cabernet Sauvignon hat eine tiefe rote Farbe. Im Bouquet rote Beeren sowie schwarze Johannisbeeren mit einem Hauch von Kräutern, ergänzt mit Vanille und Schokolade. Der Wein ist geschmeidig, vollmundig mit reifen Tanninen und guter Struktur.Der 100-Prozent Cabernet Sauvignon reifte 18 Monate lang in französischen Eichenfässern. Mit mehr als 20 Hektar Anbaufläche ist Cabernet Sauvignon die bestimmende Traube beim familiengeführten Weingut Warwick, das insgesamt über eine Anbaufläche von 56 Hektar verfügt. Die Ratcliffes erkannten schnell, dass sich das Terroir in der Provinz Westkap ideal für den Anbau von Cabernet Sauvignon eignet. Der erste Wein, den Norma Ratcliffe kreierte, war dementsprechend ein Cabernet Sauvignon. Deshalb trägt er auch den Namen „First Lady“.Der Wein passt gut zu Lammbraten, Eintöpfen und Schweinefleisch.

In the wine world, however, the Vergelegen wine estate, located about 50 kilometers east of Cape Town, is far from being an unknown estate. Wines of the traditional winery are among the best in South Africa.The Sauvignon Blanc Reserve, awarded by John Platter with 4.5 stars, has a pale color. On the nose notes of kiwi, green fig, passion fruit and guava. On the palate a refreshing crisp acidity, concentrated fruit and excellent balance - nestled in a pleasant mineral base note. A full-bodied wine with a lasting finish.The vineyards of Vergelegen range in altitudes from 140 to more than 300 meters above sea level. The grapes for this 100 percent Sauvignon Blanc come from "Schaapenberg vineyard", one of the highest areas of the winery. The vines in this cooler location are harvested at least two weeks later than the other Sauvignon Blanc areas. The harvest is done by hand in the cool morning hours to preserve the flavors.The Vergelegen Wine Estate has more than 300 years of history.
