Rustenberg Stellenbosch Chardonnay

Notes of apricot, orange peel and coconut are combined in the multi-faceted bouquet of the Rustenberg Stellenbosch Chardonnay. They are wonderfully rounded off by notes of marzipan, citrus fruit and oak. On the palate, this South African white wine is fresh, fruity, balanced, with a beautiful acidity and a fine finish with peach tones. This pure Chardonnay was matured for 9 months in 300-liter oak barrels. A quarter of the barrels used were new, as well as second, third and fourth-fill barrels.

The Rustenberg wine estate is also known worldwide for its Chardonnay creations. The Stellenbosch Chardonnay, which has already received over 90 points from the Wine Advocate several times, proves once again how well the winery knows how to age Chardonnay in wood and find the right balance between fruitiness, wood and acidity.

Rustenberg

Aaldering Chardonnay Stellenbosch
The Aaldering Chardonnay has an intense bouquet offering notes of peach, lime and mandarin. On the palate, the white wine from the Devon Valley shows a lovely fullness, a creamy juiciness and a prolonged finish as well. This pure varietal Chardonnay consists of three components: the juice delivered by the freshly harvested grapes before they are pressed (‘free run juice’), the part of the wine which was fermented in second-, third- and fourth-fill barrels as well as the must which was aged in stainless steel tanks, making this blend a special taste experience. The Aaldering Chardonnay has a good ageing potential of 5 to 7 years. Enjoy this white wine from the Aaldering estate, which has been successfully producing wines in the Stellenbosch region since 2004, with salmon, lobster, crispy duck or veal. It is also an ideal accompaniment to Middle Eastern cuisine.

Rustenberg John X Merriman
The bouquet of the Rustenberg John X Merriman pampers your senses with diverse notes of dark plums, black currants, sour cherries and tobacco. On the palate, this blend, consisting mainly of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot and a smaller percentage of Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec, is medium-bodied, with a pleasant structure and noticeable tannins that become increasingly subtle over the years. This is already a powerful, high-quality wine that will benefit considerably from additional ageing. The Rustenberg John X Merriman matured for 20 months in French oak casks, of which 35% were new barriques. Second- and third-fill barrels were used as well. This red wine is dedicated to John Xavier Merriman, a former owner of the Rustenberg estate. He acquired the winery in 1892, breathing new life into it.

Rustenberg Stellenbosch Sauvignon Blanc
This wonderfully fresh Sauvignon Blanc has a nose hinting of tropical fruit, melon and gooseberries with subtle notes of pineapple and passion fruit. The South African white wine is comparable to a Sauvignon Blanc from Marlborough, New Zealand. It is stimulating on the palate, with a great balance, a crisp acidity and a long, spicy finish. The grapes come from vineyards located in Stellenbosch, situated almost 600 metres above sea level. To bring its fruitiness into focus, the Rustenberg Sauvignon Blanc was deliberately not aged in wooden casks. This rather low-yield but absolutely healthy vintage produced wonderfully ripe grapes with intense aromas, offering a lovely, natural acidity. You’ll enjoy discovering this great taste experience.
