The Pinotage is a crossing between Pinot Noir and Cinsault, and a true specialty from South Africa. A wine with its own expressive character.

A beautiful deep red color and intense even somewhat spicy on the nose. In the mouth its full, soft and round taste is well shown. The fruit is beautifully ripe and concentrated and there are tones of different spices to discover.

The whole is complemented by a powerful and long finish.

Das südafrikanische Weingut Douglas Green Bellingham, oft verkürzt nur DGB genannt, wurde offiziell 1990 gegründet. Die Wurzeln der erfolgreichen Weinproduktion reichen allerdings mehr als 300 Jahre zurück. In den Weingüter Boschendal und Bellingham stecken die Ursprünge von DGB:

The Pinotage vines from the Spier vineyard are planted in rows facing north-east to south-east and are therefore never exposed to the bright afternoon sun. This prevents the grapes from overheating and developing overly spicy aromas. The proximity to the sea, which is only about 8 kilometers away, is also helpful. A low harvest of 50 hectolitres per hectare gives the grapes plenty of intensity and the wine has enough strength and depth to mature in wooden barrels. Fermentation at no more than 25 °C ensures plenty of fruit. 40% of the wine matures in French or American oak barrels, giving this Pinotage a pleasant vanilla flavor without losing the fruit.Deep cherry red in the glass, the bouquet smells of delicious fresh fruit, cherries and coconut. There are also various spices such as pepper, vanilla, leather and tobacco notes.
