The Cellar Selection Pinot Grigio from Kleine Zalze Wines comes from carefully selected vineyards in the Western Cape of South Africa, primarily the Breede River Valley and Stellenbosch, where light and warmth provide optimal conditions for fresh, fruity grapes.
Hand-picking takes place in the early hours of the morning, followed by immediate whole bunch pressing. Only the free juice is used to retain the ethereal aromas, which then undergo a quiet fermentation. After fermentation, the wine matures for around five months on the fine lees, which gives it additional depth and length.
In the glass, it is a pale straw yellow with delicate green reflections. The nose seduces with aromas of white peach, ripe pear and a hint of lime blossom - a seductive blend that rests on fine stone fruit notes. On the palate, you are met with a fresh, lively body with juicy fruit and a zesty acidity that gives the wine character. The finish ends with an elegant accent of stone fruit.
This Pinot Grigio is an uncomplicated pleasure wine that can be enjoyed immediately, but can still gain up to two years if stored optimally - then it develops more subtle floral and honey-like nuances.
Ideal as an aperitif, but also an excellent accompaniment to fresh salads, seafood, white fish or fine starters. Its freshness and versatility make it a perfect wine for relaxed enjoyment.
