Print product information sheet

The Driehoek vineyards in the Cederberg mountains in South Africa cover an area of just over 12 acres – small, but with the very best terroir. Since production on their own is not worthwhile, the Du Toit family who owns the farm has engaged a winemaker who is renowned far beyond South Africa: their neighbour David Niewoudt, who runs the Cederberg estate. The result is literally a fruitful cooperation: the best terroir combined with the highest art of viticulture. The Driehoek Cederberg Shiraz is a shining example of this.

On the nose, the red wine offers attractive fruit aromas such as black cherries and black currants along with sweet notes of vanilla, as well as fine nuances of black pepper and cloves. On the palate, the wine shows liquorice-like tannins and a fresh acidity. The Driehoek Cederberg Shiraz was aged for 15 months in oak casks, giving the wine complexity and length. This Shiraz is elegant and silky. Its finish is accompanied by hints of smoke and paprika.

The Driehoek Cederberg Shiraz goes beautifully with aged sirloin steaks, game or oxtail soup.

Pedro Escudero Valdelagunde Cuvée Especial Verdejo DO
Pedro Escudero Valdelagunde Cuvée Especial Verdejo DO is an intense, rich wine, in which the flavours of stone fruit (peach, apricot) predominate. Spicy notes appear, lightly, with a touch of vanilla from the oak barrels, accompanying the characteristic, bitter almond aftertaste of a Verdejo wine. This wine has been made exclusively from Verdejo grapes harvested from vineyards of the Bodegas Pedro Escudero, rooted in the rocky lands of the Fuente Elvira vineyard in the village La Seca. Part of the wine is fermented in stainless steel vats, part is a maceration most, other part has paralysed the fermentation and the last part in French and American oak casks.

Tenuta di Nozzole Chianti Classico DOCG
Chianti denotes Italian red wine from Tuscany, which was once traditionally sold in bottles encased in woven straw baskets known as “fiaschi.” Today, the Chianti Classico DOCG is one of the two most important red wines produced in Italy and its excellent quality has eclipsed the straw-covered bottle of yesteryear. The Tenuta di Nozzole estate vinifies the famous red wine from 100% Sangiovese grapes. The Tenuta di Nozzole Chianti Classico DOCG is macerated for 15 days in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 28°C. The wine is regularly pumped over during the period. The Chianti is aged for 10-12 months in toasted 225-liter French oak barrels and, after bottling, aged in the bottle for another three months. The result is an excellent wine that has a surprising sweet, soft fruitiness, complemented by notes of spice that caress the palate. We recommend drinking the Chianti at a temperature of 16-18°C with roasted and braised red meats or as a dessert accompaniment to aged hard cheeses.Gambero Rosso awards three glasses to this dry red wine from 2019 and rates it as one of the best wines from Tuscany.

Camberley Shiraz

Driehoek Cederberg Ludic Sauvignon Blanc
The Du Toit family, who planted about 5 acres of Sauvignon Blanc vines in the Cederberg mountains north of Cape Town 15 years ago, commissioned winemaker David Nieuwoudt, who is renowned far beyond South Africa’s borders, to produce the Driehoek Cederberg Ludic Sauvignon Blanc. In the meantime, the Driehoek wines are regularly awarded top marks not only in South Africa, which is due in part to the exceptional terroir. This white wine is brilliant and clear with yellow and green glints in the glass. The nose is characterised by flinty notes of grass, ripe citrus fruit and nuances of guava and gooseberries, along with aromas of passion fruit, green apple and grapefruit. On the palate, the Driehoek Cederberg Ludic Sauvignon Blanc is wonderfully creamy and yet really crisp. The lively acidity is very well-integrated and continues in the finish.Try the Ludic Sauvignon Blanc from the Driehoek Cederberg estate with fresh salads, sushi or chicken.

Driehoek Cederberg Mieke Pinot Noir
The Cederberg mountains, located about 160 kilometres north of Cape Town, are home to the Du Toit family. More than 10 years ago, the family planted about 12 acres of vines here, including Pinot Noir vines, from which their neighbour, the renowned winemaker David Nieuwoudt, produced the Driehoek Cederberg Mieke Pinot Noir, which rapidly became very popular. Such helpful cooperation is not unusual, as this principle is writ large in South Africa. The red wine has an intense bouquet redolent of light red fruit such as cherries or raspberries. On the palate, it is wonderfully supple, offering a mix of aromas of cranberries and spicy notes of cloves and nutmeg. The perceptible acidity structure is surrounded by light, silky tannins. The finish of the Driehoek Cederberg Mieke Pinot Noir is long-lasting, with lovely earthy nuances. This wine goes well with crisp duck breast or a hearty mushroom risotto.
