Delheim Iconoclast Cape Blend

The Delheim winery in South Africa presents the Iconoclast Cape Blend, a unique, bold wine that honors the pioneering work of its creator. This blend breaks with classic Cape Blend conventions by using Shiraz as the leading grape variety - a special feature that reflects the innovative spirit of the winery and its creator's preference for Shiraz.

Iconoclast combines four grape varieties to create a harmonious, complex cuvée. In the glass, it has a deep dark, luminous color, while the nose is characterized by intense aromas of ripe berries, spicy herbs and fine chocolate notes. A powerful, structured wine with velvety tannins, lively acidity and a long, elegant finish unfolds on the palate. The combination of fruitiness, spice and harmonious structure makes it an expressive representative of its terroir and unconventional character.

Delheim Wines

Das Weingut Delheim liegt hoch auf den südlichen Hängen des Simonsbergs in Südafrika. Seinen Ursprung hat das Weingut auf einer Farm, auf der anfangs nur Obstbäume und Krüppelholz wuchsen. Sie wird bereits im Jahre 1699 erstmalig in der Geschichte erwähnt; damals noch unter dem Namen Drie Sprong.

Im Jahr 1938 kaufte der Deutsche Hans Hoheisen die Farm als Altersruhesitz für sich und seine Frau Deli. Nach seiner Frau benannte er auch die Farm: Delheim – Deli’s Heim. 1940 begannen die Hoheisens auf Anraten von Freunden Weinstöcke anzupflanzen. Hoheisens Neffe Michael Sperling unterstützte seinen Onkel seit 1951 und übernahm 1957 das Weingut komplett. Michael Sperling genannt „Spatz“ führte das Weingut zu weltweitem Ruhm. Es zählt heute zu den renommiertesten Weingütern in der Region Stellenbosch und ist auch in Deutschland ein Begriff. Hier werden Weine mit beständig hoher Qualität und ungewöhnlichen Namen hervorgebracht. Inzwischen sorgt mit Viktor und Nora Sperling die Generation nach „Spatz“ dafür, dass die Delheim-Weine weiterhin erstklassig sind.

Wichtigste Strategie von Delheim Wines ist die gleichbleibend hohe Qualität der Weine. 5 Sterne von John Platter, 92 Punkte vom britischen Wine Magazine für den Vera Cruz Shiraz, und der Delheim Sauvignon Blanc 2001 gelangte in die Auswahl für die 100 Topweine auf der Sydney International Wine Competition. Auch die Cabernet Sauvignons werden stets wärmstens empfohlen.

Kanonkop Black Label Pinotage 2022
Kanonkop Black Label Pinotage - South Africa's icon in its purest formAn "icon" wine is the name given to a wine that has held an exceptional position for years. And this is exactly what the Kanonkop Black Label Pinotage has achieved. This South African Pinotage can rightly claim to be something very special. The grapes come from 63-year-old bushvine vines, the name given to vines that grow in bush form in South Africa. This means that the vines grow naturally, with the winemaker only intervening in nature by pruning. The vines thrive on dry soils characterized by decomposed granite and weathered rock. The yield per hectare is extremely low at 2.8 tons, which ensures a high level of complexity in the wine.Fermentation took place in open concrete vats. The mash was manually pressed every 2 hours and the juice was extracted from the skins after 3.5 days. Maturation took place for 18 months in 100% new French barrique barrels. As a result, the Kanonkop Black Label Pinotage achieves complex aromas of black cherry, plum and dark chocolate with a hint of cedar on the nose. On the palate, it is full with a velvety tannin structure and notes of red and black fruits. Beyerskloof Diesel Pinotage
Diesel Pinotage is certainly an unusual name for a wine. However, it quickly becomes clear when you know the story behind it. Diesel was the name of Beyers Truters, owner of Beyerskloof, dog and a beloved and loyal, constant companion of his master. The dog was not only to be found in the vineyard, but also in the cellar or next to the desk. So it was clear for Beyers Truter to name his best wine after his "best" friend.The grapes for the Beyerskloof Diesel Pinotage come from bushvine vines. This type of cultivation is frequently used in South Africa, especially for Pinotage. The fermentation process took place over 5 days in open barrels at an average temperature of 26 degrees Celsius. The mash was pressed down every 2 hours. Malolactic fermentation then took place in stainless steel tanks. New French oak barrels were used for the 21-month maturation. Of the 300 barrels filled, only 20 barrels were ultimately selected for the Diesel Pinotage.The color of the Beyerskloof Diesel Pinotage is deep purple. The bouquet is characterized by complex blackberry aromas and dark fruits, surrounded by an elegant cedar wood note. The palate reveals a fine but complex structure of black and red fruits. A truly great red wine that impresses with an excellent balance of fruit and wood. A wine with outstanding potential that will continue to give pleasure in 10 years or more.The ideal accompaniment to spicy Indian dishes or a well-matured rump steak. Beyerskloof Diesel is probably one of the best Pinotage from the Cape.

The Oldenburg Vineyards Rhodium is a noble Bordeaux cuvee from the esteemed South African wine region of Stellenbosch.
