Delheim Iconoclast Syrah

The prestigious Delheim wine estate on the Simonsberg in Stellenbosch presents the Iconoclast Syrah, an exceptional, single-varietal wine that honors the legacy and pioneering spirit of South African wine legend Spatz Sperling. Produced only in outstanding vintages, this Syrah embodies the highest craftsmanship, uncompromising quality and the visionary philosophy of the winery. Iconoclast is no ordinary wine - it is a tribute to those who courageously question traditions and break new ground.

In the glass, the Delheim Iconoclast Syrah has a deep, dark, almost impenetrable color. The nose seduces with intense, vibrant aromas of ripe dark fruits such as blackberry, black cherry and mulberry, accompanied by spicy herbs, subtle peppery notes and subtle hints of fine French oak. It reveals all its power and finesse on the palate: velvety tannins, lively acidity and an impressive structure lend it elegance and depth. The long, complex finish draws out like a perfect crescendo, in which fruit, spice and minerality combine to create a harmonious overall experience.

This dry red wine unfolds its extraordinary personality with grilled or braised lamb, roast beef and spicy game dishes. At 16-18 °C, it reveals its full aromatic diversity, the elegance of its texture and the sophistication that makes it one of South Africa's most fascinating wines - an experience for connoisseurs and aficionados alike.

Delheim Wines

With only 1064 bottles worldwide, this La Bri Syrah "1064" from Franschhoek in South Africa is a real rarity. The wine comes from a single vineyard with particularly low yields and impresses with its aromatic depth, intense spice and remarkable structure. A highly rated Syrah with 94 points in the Platter's Guide - expressive, limited and storable. The grapes for this wine were carefully selected from a single vineyard on the La Bri estate. After a one-week cold maceration, fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks. Malolactic fermentation and 24 months of ageing in French oak (partly new) ensure a complex, powerful yet elegant wine. The aroma of La Bri Syrah "1064" is intense and multi-layered. Ripe dark berries, fine dark chocolate, cloves and Mediterranean herbs dominate the bouquet. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, juicy and structured with a long finish and fine spice.Like all limited release wines from La Bri, this Syrah also bears a floral symbolism. The inverted representation of the flower "Herbae" (herbs) reflects the wildly aromatic nature of this wine - a foray through the herb garden in liquid form.Perfect with rack of lamb with herb crust, braised game, ratatouille or mature hard cheese.Maturation potential: 8-10 years

Anthonij Rupert Syrah
The Anthonij Rupert Syrah comes from strictly selected vines from the Franschhoek Valley in South Africa. A pre-selection is made as early as the hand-picking stage. Only the best grapes find their way into the wine. Both the fermentation and the subsequent maturation, which lasts an average of 21 months, take place in French oak barrels. The Anthonij Rupert Syrah was then bottled unfiltered and matured for a further 2 years. The red wine has a wonderful aroma of violets, plums, raspberries and vanilla. On the palate, the wine is amazingly complex but extremely multi-faceted. Beautiful fruity notes are in harmony with spicy notes and a gently integrated tannin structure. The finish is also juicy, balanced and convincingly long. For a long evening in front of the fireplace or as an accompaniment to a festive meal, you will hardly find anything better. Open the wine at least two hours before drinking and give it some time to develop in the glass.
