Ein Spitzenwein aus Franschhoek: Der Chamonix Troika ist ein Blend aus 49% Cabernet Franc, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Merlot und 13% Petit Verdot. Der rubinrote, trockene Wein duftet anregend nach Vanille, süßen, reifen Kirschen, Brombeeren und Gewürzen. Christine Rudman schreibt in John Platter’s Wine Guide von „Glänzenden Beeren, Gewürzen, Bleistift und Zigarrenkiste“. Sie vergibt stolze 93 Punkte (4,5 Sterne) für diesen herausragenden Rotwein aus Südafrika.

Am Gaumen ist der Chamonix Troika gut strukturiert, voll und rund, mit einer angenehmen Geschmeidigkeit. Wieder ist die tolle Beerigkeit merklich. Feine Harmonie und aromatische Länge. „Kreiert für die Lagerung im Keller, aber die Tannine sind zugänglich“, urteilt Rudman. Dieser Wein hinterlässt schon in jungen Jahren Eindruck, wird aber seine Hochzeit in 10 bis 15 Jahren erreicht haben.

Der „Bordeaux-Blend“ reifte für 18 Monate in französischen Eichenfässern, wobei zu 45% neue Fässer zum Einsatz kamen. Um die Komplexität des Weines zu erhöhen und die Vorzüge der einzelnen Rebsorten voll zur Entfaltung zu bringen, wurden die einzelnen Chargen erst kurz vor dem Abfüllen in die Flaschen assembliert. If you want to taste one of the absolute top wines from South Africa, De Toren Fusion V is a must. The V stands for the 5 Bordeaux grape varieties used in the wine. The quality is on a par with the great wines from Bordeaux.After hand-picking and selecting the grapes, a long, gentle fermentation followed. Maturation took place over a period of 12 months in 50% new and 50% second-fill barrels. Barrels of 225 liters were used. (90% French and 10% American) In the glass a clear violet with a slight sparkle. The nose is characterized by blueberry, cedar, black cherry, dark chocolate and a hint of fennel. On the palate, De Toren Fusion V offers a silky fullness with a hint of sweet fruit. The overall package of well-integrated tannins, long-lasting depth, firm structure and minerality makes this wine a top product.Pair it with grilled or roasted lamb with garlic and rosemary.
