Antonio Lopes wurde in Cortes Ira in der Weinregion Estremedura nördlich von Lissabon gegründet und gehört heute zu den bedeutendsten Export-Kellereien Portugals. Der weitaus größte Teil der Weine wird exportiert, nur etwas 5 % der Gesamtproduktion werden im Inland abgesetzt.

Die Trauben für den Esporao Reserva Tinto DOC Alentejo aus dem Weinanbaugebiet Alentejo in Portugal gedeihen auf Böden aus Ton und Lehm mit Granit und Schiefer Mutterfelsen. Die Reben der Cuvée aus Alicante Bouschet, Touriga Nacional, Aragonez, Syrah, Trincadeira, Cabernet Sauvignon und Touriga Franca werden getrennt, geerntet und zerkleinert. Danach erfolgt die Gärung, bei der die Temperatur kontrolliert wird.
