The Douro wine-growing region is the oldest protected region of origin in Portugal. The cultivation area was already precisely defined and designated in 1761. This bizarre landscape along the Douro River is characterized by steep slopes and terraces extending down to the river.

The prevailing cultivation conditions here are extremely harsh, so that the vines grow only with difficulty on the slate and granite soils. In former times, port was almost the only thing produced here, but today, the Douro area ranks among Portugal’s top wine regions.

Antonio Lopes wurde in Cortes Ira in der Weinregion Estremedura nördlich von Lissabon gegründet und gehört heute zu den bedeutendsten Export-Kellereien Portugals. Der weitaus größte Teil der Weine wird exportiert, nur etwas 5 % der Gesamtproduktion werden im Inland abgesetzt.

Unter Fachleuten gelten die Caves Vidigal als eine der innovativsten Kellereinen des ansonsten eher konservativen Weinlandes - nicht zuletzt ein Verdienst von Firmenchef Antonio Lopes und seinen Mitarbeitern.

Dieser portugiesische Weißwein besitzt ein duftig-aromatisches Bukett, ist sehr leicht, moussierend, frisch, harmonisch und prickelnd.Ein sehr leichter, fruchtiger Sommervino. Genießen Sie diesen feinfruchtigen Weißwein zu leichten Fischgerichten, sommerlichen Salaten oder zu Muscheln in Weißweinsud mit geröstetem Baguette oder Spargel.Der grüne Wein, so die wörtliche Übersetzung von Vinho Verde, stammt aus dem Anbaugebiet zwischen den Flüssen Douro und Minho im Norden des Landes. In dieser sehr feuchten Region (jährlich fallen bis zu 2000mm Niederschlag) werden ca. 25% des portugiesischen Weines erzeugt. Der schon im Jahr 1908 gesetzlich definierte DOC Bereich für Rot- und Weißweine ist somit das größte Anbaugebiet für Qualitätsweine. Das Grün bezieht sich hier nicht auf die Farbe des Weines, sondern auf die im Norden Portugals befindliche Minho-Region, die aufgrund der frischeren Witterung grünere Landschaften hat als im restlichen Land.

The Duas Quintas Douro Red has a bright, grenadine-red color with violet nuances.Ripe aromas of wild berries, blackberries, cherries, figs and cistus, with a floral note.Smooth and fresh on the palate, with the length and expressive flavors that are characteristic of an Alto Douro wine.The grapes are harvested by hand in 150 kg crates, pressed and destemmed and then fermented in steel vats at a temperature of no more than 25º. Maceration lasts long enough to produce a wine with the desired body and structure. After malolactic fermentation, 20% of the wine is aged in French oak barrels and the rest remains in the steel tanks. The wine is bottled 18 months later.Excellent as an aperitif, with soups, starters and salads. Also particularly recommended with poultry dishes: Roast chicken, duck and quail risotto, and with soft cheeses.
