The Pio Cesare Barbera d'Alba DOC is a very classic, pure Barbera from Piedmont, some of whose grapes come from plots where the grapes for the famous Barolo also grow. This gives the Barbera grape, from which 100% of this dry red wine is made, a special strength and depth in addition to the tangy fruit and lively, fresh acidity. The fermentation of the Pio Cesare Barbera d'Alba DOC takes around 10 to 12 days at a temperature of around 25 degrees in order to preserve the fruit in the dry red wine. It then matures for two years in French oak, partly in barriques and partly in larger barrels.
Pleasant fruit on the nose, deliciously ripe black cherries, with a hint of vanilla, broad and seductive.
Very pure and powerful on the palate, sweet cherries and vanilla, some chocolate, smoky, broad and juicy, with beautiful length and complexity.
A delicious Barbera with duck breast, confit de canard, great with game and hare, also enjoyable in food-pairing with hard cheese.
