G.D. Vajra Langhe Nebbiolo DOC

The Langhe Nebbiolo DOC from G.D. Vajra stands for the pure expressiveness of the grape variety. This red wine impresses with its aromatic depth, elegance and freshness - a real flagship for Piedmont and the potential of Nebbiolo outside of Barolo.

The grapes come from young vineyards in both main geological zones of the Barolo region. The calcareous soils of the Tortonian and Serravalli formations provide structure, fruit and mineral clarity. Viticulture is organic, with a focus on sustainability, biodiversity and a lot of manual work.

The grapes are harvested in October in the early hours of the morning. A maceration period of up to 26 days and subsequent ageing in stainless steel tanks for around six months preserve freshness and varietal typicity.

The wine is a bright garnet red in the glass. Floral and fruity notes of roses, raspberries and mineral accents on the nose. Juicy and precise on the palate with aromas of cherry, sour cherry, wild strawberry and fine spice. Fresh acidity and silky tannins ensure a harmonious mouthfeel.

This elegant Nebbiolo is an excellent accompaniment to tagliatelle with ragout, mushroom dishes, grilled lamb or mature cheese. Ideally served at a drinking temperature of 16-18 °C to bring out its aromatic depth and structure.

Pio Cesare Nebbiolo Langhe DOC
The Nebbiolo Lange DOC from the Italian winery Pio Cesare in Piedmont is a pure Nebbiolo. The world-famous Barolo and Barbaresco wines are also made from this well-known grape. However, if the latter red representatives of northern Italy are too weighty for you, the Nebbiolo Langhe DOC is just the thing. Although it is similar to its big brothers, it is more of a lighter and dancier version. One of the reasons for this is that the grapes for the Pio Cesare Nebbiolo Langhe DOC are harvested a little earlier and fermentation on the skins only takes around 12-13 days. The result is a dry red wine that is a lighter version of the great wines, but still has a clear personality, with the typical character of Nebbiolo, but in a more accessible form, with plenty of finesse and smoothness. This Nebbiolo is deliciously smoky and spicy on the nose, with hints of cherry fruit, floral, vanilla and bay leaf.Soft and supple on the palate, powerful at the same time, a real personality, cherries, vanilla, cream, good tannins and a fresh acidity on the finish. The Nebbiolo Langhe DOC is an excellent accompaniment to meat-based main courses full of character, salads, cold starters or lightly matured cheeses.

Michele Chiarlo Tortoniano Nebbiolo Barolo DOCG
