Previous vintages of this Primitivo from Apulia have won numerous awards. The wine unites notes of sweet berries (blackberries, wild berries and cherries) and intense nuances of dried fruit in its bouquet. On the palate, the popular red wine from South Italy is wonderfully aromatic, velvety and full-bodied, with finely integrated tannins, showing a great density.The impressive, deep aromas and the full body of the Doppio Passo Primitivo are based on a traditional production process, which is similar to the Ripasso di Valpolicella method. After the first fermentation, the wine is added to the grape skins once again for a second fermentation. During this second step of the ‘double process’ (doppio passo), the wine extracts colour, aromas and a fine hint of sweetness from the skins once more. Production area: Selected vineyards of Neviera and Casa Rossa, located in San Marzano district. The soil is mainly “terra rossa”, with a fine texture and generally a calcareous undergound with a few emerging rocks. The well-known redness of these soils is due to the presence of iron oxides. The climate is characterised by high temperatures all year round, very few rainfalls and a wide difference of temperature between night and day, which has a nice influence on the quality of grapes. This is the “classical” central area of d.o.c. ”Primitivo di Manduria” Harvest period: Third decade of August, first decade of September Vinification: Hand-harvested in small baskets. Maceration: 18 days with selected autochtonous yeasts. Besonders Nero d'Avola gehört zu den traditionellen Reben Siziliens, doch auch Syrah-Trauben fühlen sich wohl in dem mediterranen Klima, das auf der italienischen Insel herrscht.Im Glas imponiert dieser Rosé mit einem dunklen Lachston. The wine, which is named after the Greek philosopher Epicurus (341-271 BC), is ideal with fish and white meats with light sauces. Doppio Passo Riserva Primitivo di Manduria DOC

Der tief rubinrote Doppio Passo Riserva Primitivo di Manduria DOC ist eine wunderbare Rotwein aus der Rebsorte Primitivo. Der Rotwein aus Apulien duftet nach Noten von reifen Kirschen und Pflaumen, die mit unterschwelligen Holztönen und einer schönen Würze ein eindrucksvolles Zusammenspiel ergeben. Am Gaumen ist dieser Doppio Passo Riserva vollmundig, weich und ausgewogen, mit einer großen Tiefe.Die handverlesenen Trauben wurden für die Herstellung dieses Weines ein zweites Mal auf den Schalen vergoren (doppelter Gang, ital. doppio passo). Der Ausbau erfolgte über ein Jahr in Stahltanks, im Anschluss lagerte der Doppio Passo Riserva 12 Monate in großen Eichenfässern.Dieser italienische Rotwein passt sehr gut zu Lammfleisch (gegrillt, geschmort oder gebraten) oder auch zu kräftigem Käse.
