Meyer-Näkel Spätburgunder Grauwacke QbA trocken

The Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir) Grauwacke from Meyer-Näkel is one of the flagship wines for finely structured, mineral red wines from the Ahr - a region known for its exceptional Pinot Noirs.

This red wine pampers your palate with notes of red cherries, forest fruits and a subtle spiciness reminiscent of cocoa beans. A delicate and elegant tannin structure rounds off the Pinot Noir Grauwacke from Meyer-Näkel. This is what the "G" in the name stands for.

The fragrance is characterized by aromas of red fruits and berries. It can be enjoyed slightly chilled between 15 °C and 17 °C. An ideal summer wine with spicy dishes, grilled poultry or herb terrines. Meyer-Näkel does itself credit with the Pinot Noir "G" QbA dry.

A short maceration period and ten months of ageing in used oak barrels ensure a balanced ratio of fruit aromas and tannins.

This wine comes from vineyards with gradients of 30%. It matured for up to 14 months in barriques made of Kaiserstuhl oak: The Salwey Grosses Gewächs (Grand Cru) Kirchberg Spätburgunder is a very special ambassador for viniculture from Baden. It has an intense bouquet hinting of typical cherry aromas, essential oils and smoky notes as well. This Spätburgunder is elegant and soft on the palate, very dense, with a fine tannin structure. The wine is full-bodied, with a long finish. To prevent the vines in the hot top terraces from producing jam aromas, most of the grapes are fermented with their stems. The Kirchberg vineyard measures about 7.5 acres and consists of weathered, stony, volcanic soil with lime inclusions. In 2006, some of the terraces were restored to the original steep slopes, from which the grapes are harvested today. You’ll want to discover this pure varietal, dry Spätburgunder with oxtail stewed in Spätburgunder wine, ratatouille and rosemary polenta.
