Cheval Noir Pauillac AOC Rouge 2020

The Cheval Noir Pauillac AOC Rouge marks a new, exciting chapter in the history of Cheval Noir. For over a century, the name Cheval Noir has stood for elegance, authenticity and great wines from Saint-Émilion. With this cuvée, the house is venturing onto the left bank of the Gironde for the first time and interpreting one of the most renowned terroirs of the Bordelais: Pauillac.

This wine was created in collaboration with one of the most prestigious châteaux in the appellation, combining the stylistic signature of Cheval Noir - finesse, balance and expression - with the powerful structure of the Left Bank. The result is a Pauillac that combines tradition and modernity as well as elegance and depth.

In the glass, the wine is a bright garnet red. Intense red fruits dominate the nose, lending the wine freshness and expression. On the palate, Cheval Noir Pauillac is clearly structured, lively and harmonious, with the typical power and precision for which Pauillac is appreciated worldwide.

The cuvée consists of 61% Cabernet Sauvignon, 36% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot. It combines the structure and tension of Cabernet Sauvignon with the supple fruit of Merlot and subtle spicy accents. A Bordeaux full of character that will delight both connoisseurs and lovers of classic Pauillac wines.

Château Cantemerle Grand Cru Haut-Médoc AOC 2019
Château Cantemerle greets wine travelers on the D2, the most famous wine route in the world, like a kind of gatekeeper to the Médoc peninsula. Arriving from Bordeaux, Château La Lagune on the right and Château Cantemerle on the left send you on a trip to the wonderland of Bordeaux. The estate has been classified as a Cinquieme Grand Cru Classé since the 1855 classification, making it one of the "caste" of the truly best and most prestigious wines of the Bordelais.2019 was the second year in a series of three outstanding years in Bordeaux. Unsurprisingly, the Cantemerle 2019 is a shining testament to this fact, and not just in terms of its beautiful, deep red sparkling robe. The blend consists of 47% Cabernet Sauvignon, 43% Merlot, 3% Petit Verdot and 7% Cabernet Franc. This Cantemerle matured for 12 months in French oak barrels, with 40% new barrels.Lots of blackberry, cassis, tobacco, freshly picked flowers, wood and wild mushrooms on the nose. The palate is not too full-bodied, with polished tannins and good structure. A rather softer representative of the left bank, but still a very classic Bordeaux. The finish is long and flattering.Château Cantemerle 2019 should be allowed to mature for at least three years before 2022 in order to maximize the drinking experience.James Suckling: 95/100Decanter: 92/100Robert Parker: 92/100

Torre Oria SEDA Monastrell
The Torre Oria SEDA Monastrell is a red wine from the Spanish region of Valencia, produced by the renowned Bodega Torre Oria. The Monastrell grape variety from which this Spanish red wine is made is a great classic. The grapes come from old vines, which on the one hand ensure low yields, but on the other hand make the red wine particularly concentrated and full of flavor. The SEDA Monastrell from the Bodegas Torre Oria winery has a dark red color and shows notes of black fruits and mocha on the nose, complemented by aromas of ripe cherries and fresh herbs. On the palate, the dry red wine is powerful with soft tannins and a complex structure. The finish is particularly fruity.Try the Torre Oria Monastrell with poultry or lamb dishes.

Piekenierskloof Carel van Zyl Old Vine Grenache Noir
