Medium-bodied, lively acidity, very harmonious and with a fruity and spicy finish. A characteristic Federspiel from Grüner Veltliner, subtle and very racy.Ideal well chilled from the fridge at approx. 8°C. The wine can be drunk young, but also has 2-3 years of ageing potential. Excellent with baked dishes such as Wiener Schnitzel, poultry and various fish dishes. The vegan wine is also a wonderful accompaniment to vegetarian burgers and grilled vegetables.Origin and terroirThe entire Wachau region with its special microclimate and primary rock soil is the area of origin. Only grapes from terraced vineyards are used for this wine. This results in a clear and consistent Wachau wine style with lots of fruit.Grape variety Grüner Veltliner is the most important grape variety in Austria, accounting for approx. 1/3 of the total area. In the Wachau, the proportion of Grüner Veltliner increases to over 50%, as does the Domäne Wachau. A variety of styles can be produced from this grape variety, including medium-bodied white wines such as this Federspiel.Quality categoryFederspiel wines are harvested with a maximum of 12.0% alcohol and may not, of course, be fortified. The name Federspiel comes from falconry, which was very popular in the Wachau. The falcon symbol stands for the racy elegance of these dry white wines.VinificationThe vines are cultivated in the classic high training method and harvested at an average yield of approx. 7,000 kg per hectare. A modern grape transfer system enables precise selection of absolutely healthy grape material. Pressing in pneumatic tank presses, destemming overnight, use of pure yeasts, cool fermentation and ageing in stainless steel tanks. Subtly reductive handling guarantees a fresh, fruity wine with structure.
