Donnafugata Sur Sur Grillo DOC comes from vineyards in south-western Sicily, in the hilly hinterland between Marsala and Salemi. Above-average temperatures in July favored the ripening process of the grapes. The large temperature differences between day and night have produced an extraordinary intensity of aroma in the grapes.This white wine from the typical Sicilian Grillo grape variety has notes of fruit with light flesh, especially peach. The bouquet is complemented by wonderfully animating notes of fresh field flowers and freshly cut grass. Wonderfully soft and pleasantly balanced on the palate.Grillo is an indigenous grape of Sicily, but "Grillo" (the cricket) is also a small animal that brings good luck. The name sur, which means cricket, comes from the classical Arabic language, which was also spoken in Sicily. Fantini Calalenta Pecorino Terre di Chieti Bianco is an elegant white wine from Abruzzo, made exclusively from the indigenous Pecorino grape variety. This grape, which has been rediscovered in Italy, produces wines full of character with a lively freshness and fine minerality. The vineyards around Ortona, with their calcareous clay soils and coastal climate, offer the best conditions for the development of intense fruit aromas and a clear structure.The grapes are harvested during the cool night - hence the name "Calalenta" ("slowly falling temperature") - and then pressed at a low temperature. Around 80% of the must ferments in stainless steel tanks, while 20% is aged in large wooden barrels to give the wine a fine spiciness and depth. Maturation on the fine lees also ensures a harmonious, soft mouthfeel.In the glass, the Pecorino is a pale straw yellow with greenish reflections. The nose reveals intense aromas of white peach, pear and citrus, complemented by floral notes and a hint of herbs. On the palate, the wine is fresh and balanced, with invigorating acidity and a finely structured, fruity finish.This wine is ideal as an aperitif, but goes equally well with seafood, grilled fish or light pasta dishes.
