Cantina Tramin Loam Cabernet-Merlot Riserva 2022

The Loam Cabernet Merlot Riserva consists of 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc. This is a cuvée that could have been produced in the Bordeaux region. The method of ageing is also similar to that used in Bordeaux. After a meticulous harvest by hand, the grapes are fermented in large wooden casks at a temperature of 82.4 °F, leading to an intense aroma and colour, amongst other things. The ageing was carried out in small barriques for a period of 12 months. Subsequently, the wine matured for six months in large wooden casks. It was put on the market only after ageing another six months in the bottle. The special quality of the grapes, the interaction of the different grape varieties and the careful production guarantee the longevity of the Loam. This wine will be extraordinary even in ten years. The Cantina Tramin Loam Cabernet-Merlot Riserva is fruity and well-balanced. The intense but fine tannins are wonderfully integrated, giving the wine power, balance and an enormous depth.The Loam is a ruby red in colour. On the nose, it offers fruity, slightly astringent aromas of wild cherries, chocolate and various berries, complemented by notes of wild herbs. Each sip caresses the palate with aromas of red berries, dried fruit and subtle hints of cedar. The tannins underpin the finish with a blend of mineral and salty nuances.Enjoy the Cantina Tramin Loam with roasts with dark sauces, game or hearty grilled meat. It also goes beautifully with various blue cheeses.

Cantina Tramin Rungg Merlot-Cabernet 2023

The Merlot-Cabernet Sauvignon blend is complemented somewhat by the Cabernet Franc grape variety. The Cabernet Franc gives the red wine its light spiciness. The grapes for Cantina Tramin's Rungg all come from vineyards located to the south of the village of Tramin. The vines grow on hilly terrain at an altitude of around 300 meters. The soils have a gravelly subsoil, the soil above is clayey and calcareous. The terroir gives the wine from Italy a pleasant tannin structure and elegance. The wine is matured in barriques and larger wooden barrels to bring out the aromas.The color of the Rungg is garnet red. The dry wine has an intense aroma of cherry, redcurrant and dried fruit. Wonderfully round on the palate with chocolate aromas and light roasted flavors. The finish is long-lasting and powerful.Thanks to its full-bodied taste, the Cantina Tramin Rungg Merlot-Cabernet from South Tyrol is an excellent accompaniment to game dishes, roasts or well-matured cheese.

In this blend, the Casa Ermelinda Freitas winery has married 75% Castelão (typical Portuguese red grape variety, also known as Periquita), 10% each of Touriga Nacional and Trincadeira (two other indigenous red wine varieties from Portugal) and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. The grapes come from vineyards that are on average 50 years old. Flor de la Mar Tinto Reserva is therefore a Portuguese red wine that wonderfully conveys the many advantages of the terroir in the Península de Setúbal wine region in the Lisbon area.The garnet red wine combines notes of ripe red and black fruits (blueberries, blackberries, currants), a fine spiciness and vanilla oak tones in its bouquet. On the palate, Flor de la Mar Tinto Reserva is dry, dense and full-bodied, with a good structure. The tannins are noticeable, but pleasantly soft and skillfully integrated. The finish lingers for a remarkably long time.Enjoy this red wine from Casa Ermelinda Freitas at a drinking temperature of 16 to 18 degrees. Chamonix Troika 2018

Ein Spitzenwein aus Franschhoek: Der Chamonix Troika ist ein Blend aus 49% Cabernet Franc, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Merlot und 13% Petit Verdot. Der rubinrote, trockene Wein duftet anregend nach Vanille, süßen, reifen Kirschen, Brombeeren und Gewürzen. Christine Rudman schreibt in John Platter’s Wine Guide von „Glänzenden Beeren, Gewürzen, Bleistift und Zigarrenkiste“. Sie vergibt stolze 93 Punkte (4,5 Sterne) für diesen herausragenden Rotwein aus Südafrika. Am Gaumen ist der Chamonix Troika gut strukturiert, voll und rund, mit einer angenehmen Geschmeidigkeit. Wieder ist die tolle Beerigkeit merklich. Feine Harmonie und aromatische Länge. „Kreiert für die Lagerung im Keller, aber die Tannine sind zugänglich“, urteilt Rudman. Dieser Wein hinterlässt schon in jungen Jahren Eindruck, wird aber seine Hochzeit in 10 bis 15 Jahren erreicht haben. Der „Bordeaux-Blend“ reifte für 18 Monate in französischen Eichenfässern, wobei zu 45% neue Fässer zum Einsatz kamen. Um die Komplexität des Weines zu erhöhen und die Vorzüge der einzelnen Rebsorten voll zur Entfaltung zu bringen, wurden die einzelnen Chargen erst kurz vor dem Abfüllen in die Flaschen assembliert.
