A very deep attractive ruby red colour shows a young wine at the moment of its release.On the nose the wine is intense, but elegant, with acid perfume notes probably coming from the cherry aromas that also outstand. Barrel scents emphasize more than usual, but with a couple of months of bottle ageing the wine will be completely integrated.On the palate, very tasty notes and complex aromas enhance, although in a soft and elegant way. The wine is elegant and has a very well defined character. The 5% of Petit Verdot is adding an extra element of complexity. There is an pleasant and harmonious marriage of fruit and the French oak. The structure of this wine will keep it for at least 20 years. The Viña Carmen Insigne Carménère smells of red and black fruits such as strawberries, cherries, raspberries, blackberries and blueberries as well as rhubarb. This dry red wine from the traditional Viña Carmen also impresses with its beautiful length.The winery was a driving force behind the renaissance of the Carménère grape variety in the mid-1990s. Viña Carmen has an outstanding ability to bring out the qualities of this grape variety. The old Bordeaux grape variety once almost completely disappeared in France due to the phylloxera plague. However, it found its way to Chile at the time. There it remained undiscovered for decades. For many years, there was the "Chilean Merlot", which was particularly spicy with notes of green pepper. It was not until 1994 that it was discovered that the cause of these special notes was a "stowaway", so to speak, in the growing regions: the Carménère grape variety.French and American oak were used in the ageing of Carmen Carménère, enhancing the aromatic diversity of this beautiful red wine from Chile.
