Die Familie Mazzei ist eine Institution im toskanischen Weinbau und prägend für den Chianti Classico. Der Mazzei Philip ist eine Kreation aus dem legendären Castello di Fonterutoli, die erstmals 2008 auf den Markt gelangte. Und auch sie begeistert die internationale Weinkritik: In Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate etwa liegen die Urteile für den Mazzei Philip konstant zwischen 91 und – zuletzt für den Jahrgang 2019 – 94 Punkten. Grund genug, auch den wunderbaren Jahrgang 2020 zu entdecken.

Der italienische Rotwein duftet intensiv und vielschichtig nach dunklen Beeren. Am Gaumen ist der reinsortige Cabernet Sauvignon trocken und vollmundig, mit einem intensiven, fruchtbetonten Aromenspiel. Freuen Sie sich auf Aromen von Brombeeren und roten Kirschen, dazu ein Hauch von Cassis. Mit schöner Mineralität und großer Finesse. Das Ganze ist meisterhaft unterlegt mit feinen Holztönen, die dem Mazzei Philip Struktur geben. Der Rotwein klingt noch lange nach, mit einem köstlichen, frischen Nachgeschmack.

18 Monate reifte der italienische Spitzenwein von Mazzei in amerikanischer und französischer Eiche, wobei zu 30% neue Fässer zum Einsatz kamen. Die Trauben stammen von Lagen aus dem Chianti Classico (Fonterutoli) sowie von der toskanischen Küste (Belguardo). So vereint der Mazzei Philip den Duft und die Eleganz der Weine aus dem Chianti Classico mit der Opulenz und Kraft der Weine aus der Region Maremma.

Genießen Sie den rubinroten Wein aus der Toskana bei einer Trinktemperatur von 16 bis 18 Grad. Wir empfehlen, den Wein eine Stunde vor dem Genuss zu dekantieren. Dieser Cabernet Sauvignon ist ein idealer Begleiter zu Wild, Pasta-Variationen mit Tomaten sowie zu reifem Käse.

The Hensel und Gretel Cuvée Rotwein (red wine) is another joint project realised by the wine-makers Thomas Hensel and Markus Schneider. The wine-makers from the Palatinate share not only a deep friendship, but their passion for creating great wines as well. Thus it’s no surprise that they collaborated in the creation of the Hensel and Gretel Rotwein (red wine), amongst others. Both of them are particularly fond of the Cabernet Sauvignon grape variety, which predominates in this red wine. The wine is a powerful deep red in the glass. On the nose, it is redolent of cocoa, vanilla, blackberries, cassis and dark cherries. The Hensel and Gretel Rotwein (red wine) is elegant and round on the palate, with wonderfully integrated tannins. The dry, boldly spicy wine has a fruity finish.The versatile Hensel and Gretel Rotwein (red wine) is an ideal accompaniment to pizza, pasta and similar dishes. It is also lovely to enjoy on its own – ideal for a cosy evening at home.

Thomas Hensel is one of 20 wineries in Bad Dürkheim. His 17-hectare vineyard is located next to the local "airport" (airfield). Thomas is 35 years young, ambitious, energetic and courageous enough to be innovative. Classic Burgundy with notes of fresh leaves, hazelnuts and a hint of vanilla. By a subtle use of oak barrels the wine gains in complexity and flavor, without losing its freshness and unique character. On the palate it is dynamic and fresh with very lean structure.

Friendships such as the one between wine-makers Thomas Hensel and Markus Schneider count for a lot. Both come from the Palatinate and both of them create their own outstanding wines, so it was only logical that Hensel and Schneider decided to collaborate on a joint project.They created the Hensel and Gretel Weißwein (white wine), amongst others. This cuvée consists of Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris. It is a fine, shimmering gold in the glass. On the nose, the wine surprises connoisseurs with an abundance of fruit aromas such as notes of apples, pears and tropical fruit like melon, peaches and passion fruit.On the palate, the Hensel and Gretel Weisswein is marvellously powerful and expressive. It is a multi-faceted, complex wine that is a genuine delight right from the first sip. The wine was aged in second-fill wooden casks, leading to light notes of smoke and oak. The finish is slightly sweet.The Hensel and Gretel Weißwein is not only a lovely terrace wine but is also a wonderful accompaniment to light dishes.
