Colombelle Merlot Tannat IGP

The Colombelle Merlot Tannat from the Côtes de Gascogne is a red wine cuvée that combines the soft fruit of Merlot with the structure and flavour of Tannat.

It has a deep ruby red colour in the glass and an impressive nose with aromas of black cherries, plums, cassis and fine spicy notes such as pepper and liquorice.

On the palate, the Colombelle Merlot Tannat is round, smooth and well-balanced - with gentle tannins, fresh acidity and a fruity, spicy finish. A versatile red wine with French esprit that will delight beginners and connoisseurs alike.

Vinification is temperature-controlled in stainless steel tanks to preserve the fruit and freshness; sometimes supplemented by brief contact with wood for additional depth.

It tastes ideal with grilled meat, pasta with spicy sauces, ratatouille or medium-strong cheese.

Die Zentralgenossenschaft im Südwesten Frankreichs liegt im Département Gers im Herzen der Gascogne, etwa 160 Kilometer südlich von Bordeaux. 1979 schlossen sich die drei Weinkellereien Plaisance, Aignan und Saint Mont zusammen. Sie vereinigten auch ihre Initialen: PL für Plaisance, AI für Aignan und MONT für Saint Mont: PLAIMONT. Es zeigte sich schnell, dass sie einen starken Zusammenschluss bildeten - die mittlerweile renommierten Plaimont Producteurs in Saint Mont im Gers.

1.000 Produzenten arbeiten in dieser Zentralgenossenschaft zusammen, die ihre hervorragenden Weine von mehr als 5000 Hektar Rebfläche gewinnt.

Bemerkenswert: Die Producteurs Plaimont besitzen neun in Frankreich einzigartige Rebstöcke aus der Zeit vor der Reblausplage (Präphylloxera). Einer von ihnen datiert gar aus der Zeit des Ersten Kaiserreichs.
