Matsu La Moza

With La Moza, Bodega Matsu from Toro shows its fresh and accessible side. The white wine combines Verdejo with Malvasía Castellana and small amounts of Godello, Albillo, Palomino and Viura. The result is a lively cuvée with clear fruit and a pleasant structure - ideal as an uncomplicated introduction to the winery's style.

The grapes come from 10 to 20-year-old Verdejo vines and some very old Malvasía Castellana vines on barren, sandy soils with a high granite content. After a short maceration period and gentle pressing, the musts ferment spontaneously, the Verdejo matures in concrete on the fine lees, the other varieties in large French wooden barrels. The result is a harmonious white wine with a balanced interplay of fruit and subtle creaminess.

La Moza shines bright straw yellow in the glass. The nose reveals notes of pear, accompanied by fine herbs and a hint of honey. On the palate, the wine is fresh, round and pleasantly textured, with good acidity and a slightly citrusy, subtly tart finish.

Matsu La Moza develops its freshness best at a drinking temperature of 8-10 °C. It is an excellent accompaniment to light, aromatic dishes such as sushi, ceviche, vegetable stir-fries or white fish. It is also a pleasant accompaniment to mild cheeses - or simply as a refreshing wine for socializing.

Matsu La Jefa
The Matsu La Jefa is a white wine aged in wood from the D.O. Toro in Spain. Matsu comes from the Japanese and means "to wait". And indeed, the philosophy of the makers of this white wine from 100-year-old vineyards is to leave nature as untouched as possible and to act with patience and restraint when making the wine. The Matsu La Jefa smells of vanilla and ripe stone fruit, with nuances of aniseed and a subtle sweetness. On the palate, this creation made from the Castilian grape variety Malvasi'a and smaller proportions of other white grape varieties is velvety and full, with a lovely creaminess. There is also a fine play of acidity and sweetish nuances. This Spanish white wine is wonderfully balanced, with a beautiful texture and impressive complexity. The Matsu La Jefa matured for 16 months in French oak barrels (600 liters). Look forward to a bright straw-colored Malvasi'a that captivates connoisseurs with its extraordinary complexity.

Matsu El Picaro
The Matsu El Picaro comes from the Toro growing region in the northwest of Spain. A 100% Tempranillo, here called Tinta de Toro, vinified young wine. The grapes for this red wine are grown biodynamically.El Picaro translates as "the rogue". In the glass, the young wine from Bodega Matsu shines in an intense purple color. The nose is characterized by a penetrating aroma of black fruits such as blackberry and blueberry. Mineral notes are wonderfully fresh and complex, surrounded by a slight sweetness. The palate is also dominated by the fruit and fullness that comes from the ripe grapes. Despite its youthfulness, the wine is extremely full-bodied and powerful, which is due to the ageing in French oak barrels and the fact that aggressive filtering and clarification were deliberately avoided. The Matsu El Picaro is a vegan red wine and is extremely enjoyable on its own, but also pairs well with medium-weight dishes. Enjoy this dry red wine at a drinking temperature of 16-18 °C with classic Spanish dishes such as paella, tapas or mature cheese.
