Rickety Bridge Pinotage is a South African red wine full of character, produced by the prestigious Rickety Bridge Winery. Pinotage is an indigenous South African grape variety and is considered the country's flagship wine. Rickety Bridge Pinotage has a deep red color with purple nuances in the glass. On the nose, it unfolds an enticing aroma of ripe dark fruits such as black cherries, plums and blackberries. Notes of spices, chocolate and a hint of oak add depth and complexity to the bouquet.

On the palate, the Rickety Bridge Pinotage is full-bodied and powerful. After 12 months of ageing in barrels, the wine displays a harmonious balance between ripe fruit and well-integrated tannins. The aromas of dark berries continue and are accompanied by a hint of roasted aromas. The wine has an impressive structure and a lingering, juicy finish.

Rickety Bridge Winery

Rickety Bridge kann auf eine lange Tradition zurückblicken. Das Weingut aus dem wunderschönen Örtchen Franschhoek in Südafrika wurde bereits 1797 von Paulina De Villers gegründet. Für diese Zeit durchaus außergewöhnlich, dass eine Frau Besitzerin einer Farm werden konnte. Das historische Anwesen war ursprünglich Teil der großen Farm La Provence, die 1694 französischen Hugenottenbauern übergeben wurde. Im Laufe der Jahre wurde das Anwesen aufgeteilt und der Teil, der heute Rickety Bridge heißt, wurde Paulina De Villiers zugesprochen.

Lange Zeit galt das Weingut als ein wenig angestaubt, aber mit der Übernahme durch den jetzigen Besitzer Duncan Spence im Jahre 2000 ist viel auf dem Anwesen passiert. Die historischen Wirtschaftsgebäude wurden restauriert und neue hinzugefügt, um ein lebendiges und umfangreiches Wein-, Lifestyle- und Gastfreundschaftsunternehmen zu schaffen. Der seit 2018 agierende Kellermeister Donovan Ackermann, beaufsichtigt einen komplexen Betrieb, der die heimische Farm umfasst, sowie mehrere Weinbaugebiete in der Gegend und weiter entfernt wie zum Beispiel in Breedekloof.

Barista Black

Barista Black is a red wine from South Africa made from 100% Pinotage grapes. The Pinotage grape variety is based on a new variety developed by Abraham Isak Perold at the University of Stellenbosch in 1925. It is a cross between Pinot Noir (Pinot Noir) and Cinsault. The Barista Black shows all the richness of this grape. A Pinotage that could not be more intense.The grapes come from the best vineyards in the Western Cape. The wine was fermented in a combination of stainless steel and concrete tanks with two gentle pumpings per day. It was then matured for 16 months in oak barrels, with 20% of the wine aged in new French barriques.The Barista Black has a wonderful aroma of plums, cherries and mulberries with hints of warm baking spices. On the palate, the wine has a juicy fruit core and good concentration with velvety tannins and some oak complexity. The finish is long, smooth and pleasantly dry.This full-bodied wine goes well with dark braised shoulder of lamb on long grain rice with red cabbage and bacon kimchi or roast duck breast and mixed leaf salad and potato wedges.
