The Lanzerac Le Général is a so-called Bordeaux blend, which could be assigned to the left bank in Bordeaux, i.e. the Médoc region. This style is based on the classic blending of the Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Petit Verdot and Merlot varieties. The grapes for this wine come from the estate’s best vineyards located in the Jonkershoek valley in Stellenbosch. The wine matured for 20 months in first- and second-fill French oak casks. Initially, this full-bodied blend offers aromas of vanilla and nutmeg. Subsequently, it pampers the palate with a flood of notes of dark berries, cooked plums and black currants. The palate is complemented by nuances of dark chocolate and hints of smoke, underpinned by powerful, soft tannins and a never-ending finish. The vintage can already be enjoyed now. We recommend decanting the wine before drinking it. Ennjoy the Lanzerac Le General with braised saddle of lamb with fennel and orange or with white chocolate mousse with cherries.

On the palate, this marvellously complex wine is full-bodied and long-lasting. It was aged in new and used barrels, giving the wine a beautifully clear balance and lots of character. The grapes for the Lanzerac Pinotage come from vineyards that are located between 400 and 420 metres above sea level. The prevailing wind cools the grapes in hot summers. The soils consist mainly of decomposed granite, enhancing the vines’ deep growth and improving water retention in the soil. After fermentation in stainless steel tanks with regular pumping over, the Lanzerac Pinotage matured for 15 months in first-, second- and third-fill oak casks.At this point, the optimal integration between fruit and wood was completed, resulting in a wine of excellent colour with fragrances of ripe berries and plums. On the palate, the Lanzerac Pinotage is velvety, dense, full-bodied and complex, showing a lovely balance. Aromas of high-quality chocolate and notes of caramel enhance the taste experience along with wonderfully integrated tannins.Enjoy the Lanzerac Pinotage with venison medallions in plum sauce or Asian curry dishes.

The grapes for Lanzerac Merlot come from vineyards located in the Jonkershoek Valley near Stellenbosch. These vineyards are divided into four different parcels of land with vines that are between 9 and 17 years old, covering an area of 20.31 acres. This terroir consists of deep red, decomposed granite soils and is located between 125 and 400 metres above sea level. After arrival in the cellar, the grapes were selected by hand and destemmed. Before they were gently pressed, the loose grapes underwent a second selection by hand. Subsequently, the grapes were fermented in stainless steel tanks with pumping over twice a day, allowing an optimal extraction of colour and aromas. The Merlot matured for 12 months in second- and third-fill French oak casks. The optimal point of the ripening process was reached by regular racking. This appetizing Lanzerac Merlot has a lot to offer and leaves nothing to be desired. On the nose, it offers concentrated aromas of black fruit, along with sweet notes of vanilla and spicy aromas. The tannins give the wine more complexity, gently underpinning aromas of plums, black cherries, cooked strawberry purée and dark chocolate, finely rounded off by a long, integrated finish. The Lanzerac Merlot goes beautifully with veal chops and portabello mushrooms, gnocchi in a red pepper sauce with crispy pancetta or with a creamy gruyere and parmesan cheese risotto.

Initially, the wine once again offers aromas of sour cherries and plums on the palate. Der Rust en Vrede Estate ist ein Cuvee aus den Rebsorten Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah und Merlot. Der dominierende Cabernet gibt dem Wein herrliche Noten von schwarzer Johannisbeere und weiteren dunklen Früchten wie Heidelbeere. Der Syrah sorgt für eine schöne Würze mit erdigen Aromen. Der Merlot steuert sanfte florale Aromen von Veilchen und Jasmin bei. Eine Kombination, die am Gaumen wirklich Spaß macht. Die Farbe ist purpurrot und in der Nase finden sich Noten von frischem Leder, Tabak, Maulbeeren und Waldboden wieder. Der langanhaltende Abgang wird durch samtig weiche Tannine bestimmt.Der Rust en Vrede Estate reifte 18 Monate in 100% französischen Fässern, die mittelstark getoastet waren. Dadurch erhält der Wein einen schönen runden Körper und eine feste Struktur. Die moderate Säure balanciert die Trockenheit wunderbar aus.Ergänzend zu Wildgerichten aller Art ein wirklicher Genuss.

Wenn man einen der absoluten Spitzenweine aus Südafrika probieren möchte, kommt man am De Toren Fusion V nicht vorbei. Die V steht dabei für die 5 im Wein verwendeten Bordeaux Rebsorten. Die Qualität lässt sich mit den großen Weinen aus dem Bordeaux durchaus messen. Nach der Handlese und Selektion der Trauben schloss sich eine lange schonende Gärung an. Die Reifung fand über einen Zeitraum von 12 Monaten in zu 50% neuen und 50% Fässern zweiter Füllung statt. Dabei kamen Fässer von 225 Litern Größe zum Einsatz. (90% französische und 10% amerikanische) Im Glas ein klares Violett mit leichtem Funkeln. Die Nase ist geprägt von Blaubeere, Zeder, Schwarzkirsche, Bitterschokolade und einem Hauch Fennel. Am Gaumen offeriert der De Toren Fusion V eine seidige Fülle mit einem Hauch süßer Frucht. Das Gesamtpaket aus wohl integrierten Tanninen, lang anhaltender Tiefe, fester Struktur und Mineralität machen diesen Wein zu einem Spitzenprodukt.
