Eikendal Sauvignon Blanc

The Eikendal Sauvignon Blanc impresses with a clear, light yellow color and a fruity aroma profile: tropical fruit, green apple and fine stone fruit notes dominate the bouquet and continue on the palate. The lively acidity gives the wine freshness, while the full mouthfeel and long finish provide structure and elegance.

The Eikendal wine estate is located on the slopes of the Helderberg in the renowned Stellenbosch wine region, one of the oldest and best-known wine-growing regions in South Africa. Since the 1980s, Eikendal has stood for wines with character, elegance and terroir depth. For this Sauvignon Blanc, the winery works with selected plots in the cool Elgin Valley, around 350 meters above sea level. The climatic conditions there - cool nights, temperate days and fertile soils - are ideal for growing Sauvignon Blanc.

The grapes for this Eikendal Sauvignon Blanc come from a precisely defined block and are cultivated sustainably without irrigation. Two different clones ensure a balanced interplay of aromas between fruity richness and delicate, vegetal notes such as asparagus and fig. Targeted foliage work produces a complex, multi-layered wine with depth and freshness.

After manual harvesting, processing takes place at low temperatures to preserve the fruit and aromas. The must had four hours of skin contact before being fermented in a combination of stainless steel tanks, concrete vats and plastic tanks. The wine was regularly stirred (bâtonnage) for two months, giving it fullness and structure.

The Eikendal Sauvignon Blanc tastes great with fresh goat's cheese, oysters, artichokes or gnocchi with basil pesto.

Eikendal Chardonnay
The Eikendal Chardonnay is an expressive white wine from Stellenbosch in South Africa that impresses with its elegance and structure. Delicate aromas of orange peel and floral blossom notes meet a firm mouthfeel and lively acidity. On the finish, the wine is fresh, precise and has a clear, mineral core. The grapes come from high-altitude sites on Helderberg Mountain, which are exposed to cool winds from False Bay - a perfect terroir for fresh and exciting Chardonnays. The vines grow on weathered granite with clay and gravel and produce low yields of the highest quality. In the cellar, the grapes are gently pressed as whole bunches to preserve freshness and clarity. Some of the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation in wood, while the rest is transferred to French oak barrels after alcoholic fermentation. The Chardonnay matures for a total of 10 months on the fine lees in 500-liter barrels (20% of which are new wood), which gives it a fine creaminess and additional depth. The Eikendal Chardonnay is a wine with ageing potential that goes perfectly with spicy Asian dishes such as Thai green curry, nasi goreng or smoked fish.

Eikendal Méthode Cap Classique (MCC) Brut
The Eikendal MCC is a noble, South African Méthode Cap Classique that delights with its freshness, fine perlage and remarkable aroma. This sparkling wine combines artisanal precision with terroir-influenced expressiveness - a true flagship of the Eikendal style. The uncompromising quality philosophy begins in the vineyard: the foliage is deliberately kept closed throughout the growing season to protect the grapes from excessive sunlight. The result is a concise acidity structure and intensely concentrated aromas that whet the appetite for the first sip as soon as the grapes are picked. The grapes were harvested early to preserve maximum freshness. After being harvested by hand in small crates, the grapes were cooled down to just 1 °C and pressed very gently as a whole. Only the "heart juice" - i.e. the purest must - was used for this fine sparkling wine. Fermentation took place at around 12 °C in stainless steel tanks with natural wild yeasts in order to express the varietal and site typicity unadulterated. The base wine then matured for six months on coarse yeast ("gross lees") before being bottled for the second fermentation. The Eikendal MCC then matured for 21 months on the fine lees in the bottle - in the style of high-quality champagne. After traditional riddling, it was disgorged and bottled without excessive dosage. The result is a lively, well-balanced sparkling wine with a fine mousseux, subtle brioche notes, citrus freshness and mineral depth. The Eikendal MCC is an excellent aperitif, but also goes perfectly with fine seafood, sushi, oysters or goat's cheese. It is also a delight with canapés or a fresh summer salad with citrus vinaigrette.

Eikendal Infused by Earth Chardonnay
The Eikendal Infused by Earth Chardonnay is an exceptional white wine with a clear signature of the terroir. It comes from two small plots of old bush vines, high up on the Eikendal vineyard in Stellenbosch. The vines are deeply rooted in barren, weathered granite with intercalated gravel and white clay - soils that have been stripped of all organic matter. The south-easterly orientation of the rows of vines and the constant influence of the fresh sea breeze from False Bay create a cool microclimate that produces precise, elegant wines rich in finesse. The low yields of just 0.8 to 1 kg of grapes per vine are reflected in the enormous concentration and depth of the wine. The carefully hand-picked grapes were pressed as whole bunches, without prior clarification of the must. Half of the spontaneous fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks, while the other half was matured in a mix of 500-liter barrels made from new French oak (60%) and a granite amphora (40%) - a rare and purist approach in which granite ferments in granite. After 18 months of ageing without fining or filtration, the wine is completely natural and unadorned. In the glass, the Infused by Earth Chardonnay is complex and profound - with notes of citrus fruit, ripe stone fruit, roasted nuts and a hint of wet stone. The structure is powerful yet precise, carried by an invigorating acidity and a salty, almost chalky finish.Serve this multi-layered white wine at 10-12 °C with sophisticated dishes such as roasted turbot with beurre blanc, chicken in a lemon and herb marinade, or a fine vegetable tart with goat's cheese. Also ideal with grilled vegetables or dishes with white truffle oil.Eikendal Infused by Earth Chardonnay is a fascinating wine that uncompromisingly expresses the terroir of its origin - puristic, deep and unforgettable. A must for explorers and lovers of special white wines.

Binigrau Celler B Rosat
