Eikendal Cabernet Sauvignon

The Eikendal Cabernet Sauvignon is a prime example of South African red wine from Stellenbosch. This pure Cabernet Sauvignon impresses with its complexity, depth and balanced structure. The nose reveals a multi-layered bouquet of ripe dark berries, fine dark chocolate, oriental spices and fine wood notes - including the typical nuance of pencil shavings that is often appreciated in great Cabernets.

On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and powerful, yet polished and elegant at the same time. Silky tannins, fine roasted aromas from the wood and the lively fruit are harmoniously interwoven. The long finish underlines the sophisticated character of this wine.

The grapes come from the western slopes of the Helderberg, where "Koffieklip" soils and cooling Atlantic winds provide perfect conditions. After a careful hand-picking and controlled fermentation, the wine matured for 18 months in French oak barrels, giving it extra depth and ageing potential.

A great accompaniment to braised beef, game or aromatic vegetarian dishes such as oven-baked vegetable tarts. Ideally serve this premium wine at 16-18 °C.

Can be stored for up to 20 years - a real highlight for discerning Cabernet lovers.

Eikendal Cabernet Merlot
The Eikendal Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot is a powerful red wine cuvée in the classic Bordeaux style - full of character, full-bodied and typical of the renowned Stellenbosch wine region. The nose is dominated by ripe aromas of blackberries and blackcurrants, complemented by notes of cassis and a subtle earthiness, which are particularly typical of Cabernet Sauvignon. On the palate, the wine impresses with concentrated, fleshy fruit, fine-meshed tannins and a perfect balance of fruity richness and spicy, sweetish toasted aromas of French oak.The grapes come from high-altitude vineyards on mineral-rich "Koffieklip" soil with a clay subsoil - ideal conditions for complex, long-lasting wines. The vines, planted in 2004, are trained using the vertical shoot position system with sparse irrigation in order to achieve particularly concentrated berries. The grapes are harvested exclusively by hand into small crates, followed by cold maceration, spontaneous fermentation and gentle pressing. The wine matures for 12 months in 300-liter French oak barrels (15% of which are new) before being bottled unfiltered. This elegant cuvée harmonizes perfectly with beef carpaccio, braised beef rib or a creamy curry dish. Ideally served at 18-20 °C.Ready to drink now, with potential for a further 10 years of ageing.

Eikendal Méthode Cap Classique (MCC) Brut
The Eikendal MCC is a noble, South African Méthode Cap Classique that delights with its freshness, fine perlage and remarkable aroma. This sparkling wine combines artisanal precision with terroir-influenced expressiveness - a true flagship of the Eikendal style. The uncompromising quality philosophy begins in the vineyard: the foliage is deliberately kept closed throughout the growing season to protect the grapes from excessive sunlight. The result is a concise acidity structure and intensely concentrated aromas that whet the appetite for the first sip as soon as the grapes are picked. The grapes were harvested early to preserve maximum freshness. After being harvested by hand in small crates, the grapes were cooled down to just 1 °C and pressed very gently as a whole. Only the "heart juice" - i.e. the purest must - was used for this fine sparkling wine. Fermentation took place at around 12 °C in stainless steel tanks with natural wild yeasts in order to express the varietal and site typicity unadulterated. The base wine then matured for six months on coarse yeast ("gross lees") before being bottled for the second fermentation. The Eikendal MCC then matured for 21 months on the fine lees in the bottle - in the style of high-quality champagne. After traditional riddling, it was disgorged and bottled without excessive dosage. The result is a lively, well-balanced sparkling wine with a fine mousseux, subtle brioche notes, citrus freshness and mineral depth. The Eikendal MCC is an excellent aperitif, but also goes perfectly with fine seafood, sushi, oysters or goat's cheese. It is also a delight with canapés or a fresh summer salad with citrus vinaigrette.

The ‘The Uprising’ is rounded off by a smaller percentage of Grenache, giving the wine its spice and sweet fruitiness. On the nose, the wine offers intense notes of mocha, caramel and baking flavours.Like all wines of the 19 crimes line, ‘The Uprising’ has a history of its own:The man depicted on the label was a member of the Fenian brotherhood from Skibbereen in Ireland who played a major role in the Fenian movement right from the beginning.
