Unter anderem gewann der Rosewein beim Meiningers Internationalem Rose Preis die Auszeichnung „Bester italienischer Rosewein“. Im Glas ein zartes Hellrosa und in der Nase fruchtige Noten von Pflaume und Grapefruit. Dazu gesellen sich delikate Blütenaromen, wie Hagebutte und Pfingstrose. Am Gaumen ist der Donnafugata Sul Vulcano Etna Rosato frisch und mineralisch. Das Mundgefühl zeigt sich kraftvoll und trocken, wunderbar konzentriert und enorm saftig. This white wine is made of Grillo, a grape variety typical of Sicily. It is redolent of fruit with light flesh, particularly peaches, along with wonderfully stimulating notes of fresh wildflowers and newly cut grass. On the palate, the wine is amazingly soft and pleasantly balanced.The Donnafugata Sur Sur Grillo DOC comes from vineyards located in the south-west of Sicily, in the hilly hinterland between Marsala and Salemi. Above-average temperatures in July favoured the grapes’ ripening process. The differences in temperature between day and night led to an outstanding aromatic intensity of the grapes.Grillo is an autochthonous Sicilian grape variety, but ‘Grillo’ (the cricket) is also a small animal that brings good luck. The name ‘sur’ means ‘cricket’ and comes from the classical Arabic once spoken in Sicily.
