Der Château Routas Rosé Provence AOP aus der Provence ist wohl das Beste, was man in diesem Preissegment derzeit an Roséweinen bekommen kann. Die Weinfachwelt ist sich selten so einig wie bei diesem Rosé. Nicht nur der Wine Advocate, James Suckling, Wine and Spirits und Wine Spectator loben diesen Wein in höchsten Tönen. James Suckling spricht sogar davon, Zitat: „Dies könnte der beste Rosé der Welt sein“. Nun genug der Superlative und zur eigentlichen Beschreibung.

Der Château Routas Rosé Provence hat eine zart hellrosa Farbe. In der Nase finden sich frische Noten der Wassermelone, Pfirsicharomen und Noten von Erdbeeren und ein Hauch von Orangenschale. Am Gaumen ist dieser Rosé weich, geschmeidig und wunderschön strukturiert. Der lebendige Geschmack nach Walderdbeeren, Kirsche wird begleitet von mineralischen Noten und einer leichten Pfefferwürze. Die knackig frische Säure trägt zum erfrischend langen Abgang bei.

Kellermeister und Önologe Jean Louis Bavay, der sein Handwerk bei der Domaine Ott gelernt hat, ist ein leidenschaftlicher Arbeiter. Zusammen mit Philippe Saraciva, dem Verantwortlichen für die Weinberge, schafft er einen an Komplexität und Geschmack einmaligen französischen Rosé zu kreieren.

Das Chateau Routas liegt in der AOC Coteaux Varois en Provence, ca. 100 Kilometer nördlich von Bandol. Diese Region ist bekannt für ihre unterschiedlichen Böden und Höhenlagen. Die Böden sind vorwiegend von Kalksteinfelsen geprägt.

Chateau Routas umfasst ein Anwesen von insgesamt 260 Hektar. Diese Fläche befindet sich aufgrund ihrer Vielfalt an Bewuchs in einem ökologischen Gleichgewicht ganz besonderer Art. Neben den Rebanlagen befinden sich Weizenfelder und Olivenbäume, rote Mohnblumen und Sonnenblumen begrenzen die Felder, umgeben von Wäldern. Dieses alles sorgt für hilfreiche Insekten, die dazu beitragen die Reben krankheitsfrei zu halten. Einheimische Wildschweine sind häufig zu finden und bedienen sich leider manchmal auch an den Chateau Routas-Trauben.

Die Eigenschaften der Böden auf Chateau Routas variieren sehr stark, was zu kleinen Weinbergen führt. So gibt es Parzellen, die rot wie gemahlener Ziegelstein aussehen oder andere, die aus bröckeligem grauem Kalkstein bestehen. Die Weinberge von Chateau Routas liegen ca. 400 Meter über dem Meeresspiegel und bieten dadurch kühle Nächte, die das Reifen der Trauben verlangsamen und die Komplexität erhöhen.

Grenache, Rolle (Vermentino), Cinsault and Syrah come together in the Château d'Esclans Whispering Angel. This seductive rosé from the Côtes de Provence offers wonderful notes of strawberry, lemon, cherry and jasmine. On the palate, with nice minerality and elegance.Hard to believe, but this is an entry level wine of the Château. To provide all the freshness and the wonderful fruitiness, this rosé was not aged in oak barrels.Enjoy the Château d'Esclans Whispering Angel with pies, grilled fish or meats and seafood in a creamy sauce.

The grapes for Le Rosé par Paul Mas grow on a soil of clay and limestone. They are harvested by machine at night. In order to preserve the fruity aroma of the grapes, fermentation takes place in barrels at a controlled temperature after destemming and pressing at 5 degrees.
