The Piesporter Goldtröpfchen Kabinett from the prestigious Nik Weis - Sankt Urbans-Hof winery is a prime example of fine, fruity Rieslings from the Moselle. The world-famous "Goldtröpfchen" vineyard is one of the most renowned steep slopes in Germany and offers ideal conditions for wines full of character and minerality. The deep soils, characterized by Devonian slate, give this Kabinett its typical elegance and finesse.

On the nose, the wine develops a seductive bouquet of ripe citrus fruit, green apple, vineyard peach and a hint of exotic pineapple. Floral nuances and the fine slate minerality provide additional complexity. The Riesling is wonderfully balanced on the palate - the fine residual sweetness harmonizes perfectly with the lively acidity structure and gives the wine its typical lightness and animating freshness.

This Kabinett is vinified using traditional methods: The hand-picked grapes are gently pressed and fermented at a controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks. The wine is also matured in stainless steel tanks to preserve the fruitiness and clarity of the Riesling. The delicate aromas are preserved through careful ageing and the wine presents itself with great expressiveness and terroir typicity.

The Nik Weis Piesporter Goldtröpfchen Kabinett is a versatile accompaniment to Asian cuisine - especially dishes with a slight spiciness such as Thai curry or sushi. It is also an excellent choice with mild goat's cheese, salads with fruity dressings or a classic apple strudel.

Nik Weis - St. Urbans-Hof

Der Sankt Urbans-Hof im Mosel-Saar-Gebiet wurde 1947 von Nicolaus Weis gegründet. Sein Enkel Nik Weis trat 1997 in das elterliche Weingut ein und führt seit 2002 gemeinsam mit seiner Frau Daniela Weis, die selbst Winzertochter und diplomierte Kauffrau ist, das Weingut.

Die Rebfläche vom Weingut Sankt Urbans-Hof erstreckt sich über drei Mosel- und drei Saarlagen. Es gibt drei Grand-Cru-Lagen (Leiwener Laurentiuslay, Ockfener Bockstein, Piesporter Goldtröpfchen) und drei Ortslagen (Wiltinger, Saarfeilser, Mehringer), auf denen Nik Weis und sein Team ausdrucksstarke Weine erzeugen.

Das Weingut Sankt Urbans-Hof gehört mit einer Rebfläche von 35 Hektar zu den größten und wichtigsten des Mosel-Saar-Anbaugebietes. Der klare und qualitätsbewusste Stil wurde bereits mehrfach prämiert. Im März 2010 erhielt Nik Weis bei den "Feinschmecker" Wine Awards die Auszeichnung für die Wein-Kollektion des Jahres für das Weingut Sankt Urbans-Hof. Das Weingut exportiert auch in internationale Märkte und ist bekannt für Spitzen-Rieslinge.
