This Saint-Émilion Grand Cru is a 100% Merlot with an exciting history. It is produced on a 9-hectare estate in Saint Etienne de Lisse, in the vicinity of such illustrious names as Valandraud, by Denis Durantou, who also owns the renowned Château L'Eglise Clinet.

The Merlot ensures that the French wine is already extremely accessible, with the emphasis on its fruity and fresh notes.

The Saintem appears in a deep garnet red. Lots of plum, chocolate, some cherry, smoke, lavender and floral hints. The wine is smooth, fruity and has a lovely sweetness that is not overwhelming. Maturation for 14 months in French oak barrels gives this dry red wine a great structure without overemphasizing the wood.

Wir vom Vineshop24 sind immer auf der Suche nach etwas Spannenden und Neuem aus der wunderbaren Weinwelt. Dabei wurden wir aufmerksam auf diese Spezialität aus Fronsac im Bordelais, einem trockenen Wein "Sans Sulfites", also ohne zugesetztem Schwefel, mit einem niedlichen Jungen auf einem Traktor auf dem Label. Der kleine Lausbub ist Raphaël, die sechste Generation der Coudert Familie, der das Château Castagnac gehört und der so gerne im Weinberg - natürlich auf dem Schlepper - mithilft. Der Château Castagnac Raphaël Merlot wurde daher nach ihm benannt.Das Château Castagnac arbeitet derzeit daran, das Label HEV (high environmental value) zu erhalten, eine Auszeichnung für nachhaltigen französischen Weinbau. Bei der Herstellung wird zudem auf den Einsatz von Sulfiten verzichtet. Somit fällt bei diesem sulfitarmen Rotwein auch der Histaminwert gering aus.100% Merlot, aus im Schnitt 25 Jahre alten Reben, wird die Fermentation nur mit Hilfe natürlicher Hefen durchgeführt. Es erfolgt auch nur eine sehr vorsichtige Filterung vor der Abfüllung.Der Château Castagnac Merlot Raphaël ist genauso sympathisch wie der kleine Raphaël selbst. Fruchtig, viel Merlot-typische Pflaumenaromen, dunkle Beeren, Haselnuss und etwas Olive vereinen sich zu einem spannenden und äußerst runden Trinkvergnügen.James Suckling ist begeistert von diesem Wein aus Bordeaux und benotet den Château Castagnac Merlot Raphaël mit 91 Punkten.

Die alkoholische Gärung dieses zu 80% aus Merlot und zu 20% aus Cabernet Sauvignon bestehenden Rebsaftes dauert zwischen 8 bis 10 Tagen, mit zweimaligem Umpumpen am Tag. Dies unterstützt die optimale Extraktion der Aromen. Es folgt eine lange Mazeration von 25 bis 30 Tagen. Die malolaktische Gärung erfolgt in Tanks. Dort reift er weiter für etwa 18 Monate, bis er schließlich abgefüllt wird.Der Château La Maroutine 2018 überzeugt durch eine rubinrote Farbe. Die Nase zeigt charmante Kirschnoten und Kaffee- sowie Röstaromen. Am Gaumen vermittelt dieser Bordeaux eher einen weichen, vollen und runden Stil, wobei die Tannine zwar präsent, aber geschliffen und samtig sind. Der Merlot wirkt hier gut gereift und verführt mit schöner, dichter Frucht.Ein klassischer Bordeaux, der jetzt bis 2025 auf der Höhe der Trinkreife sein dürfte.Ein Genuß in geselliger Runde, aber auch sehr gut im food-pairing mit Gulasch, Braten oder zur Käseplatte.
